Has anyone thought about building an HMD using DLP technology? Since a lot of the microdisplay companies are going under it seems DLP production is almost at a consumer level already for projector use. Why not use DLP technology to project (using a VERY low light source) directly on the back of the retina, or even onto a surface (which could be any size) which could be viewed through wide FOV lenses?

Comments?

Yes, but LCoS display manufacturers seem to be going under at a rate of knots. Also the benefit of DLP would be that you can project the image to make it as large or small as you would like. Plus you don't get the individual RGB pixelation you would get with LCD.
