Dear 3D experts : Please help me with dual playback of 3D stereo video on a computer under Window, while I hear some function of Window provides playback of video of more than two sources on the same computer or synchronized playback of dual PC or dual graphic cards or so. Awaiting your assitance, Sincerely, Yoon |

Hi Yoon, i think we need some more info. Tell us about video resolution, frame rate and stereo format used. we also need to know what you're planning: a large videoprojection with polarized glasses or a dual monitor setup? Remember that the main problem is the limit of existing CPU processing a large amount of video data without skipping frames. Giorgio. |

Dear Giorgio : Thanks for your kind attention to my need. Actually,I'm focused on dually projecting 3D stereo video on a large screen without losing resolutions by using two separate full frame sources, say left and right and also sync in lock with each other. I hear MS Window provides certain functions of plural playbacks of video on a single computer. So I'm quite interested in using such function, while I know there have come out some commercial software of such function based on Window from MDS of America so that both streams of video could be run on the same computer. However, what I still believe is the chance I could use that of original Window supported functions instead of resorting to expensive software from them. Anticipating your continued support, Sincerely, |

Dear Yoon, as far as the bottleneck is the CPU and the internal buses, you need 2 computers connected with a cable (even a parallel one). The two machines must have an HW support for MPEG2 playback (as all machines with a DVD player have). Then you can play the two MPEG2 video streams (I think up to 1024x768) with Window Media Player at full screen. Well, of course you need to sync the two video-clips: you can download fron MS the software to develop this synchronization. The software is free but you must be skilled. Last month Michal Husak gave me the exact link, you can find it the a discussion I started (check it). I couldn't even download the software because it's too big for a dial-up Internet connection. If you can do it and keep me updated. Giorgio. |
