Hello guys. I just saw the IMAX 3D movie, and WOW, I was blown away! 3D, that size, that sound, it was amazing. However, I can't figure out how they did it. They were not shutterglasses, in fact they were lighter than some sunglasses. There were no electronics in the lenses. Anyone know how they did it? | ||

I saw it too, just last night. INCREDIBLE! I would suggest everyone who frequents this board to go and see it; if you like stereo 3D at all, you will not be disappointed. Warren, they also use two sync'ed projectors. In fact, I saw the 3D Cirque du Soleil IMAX movie and the theater screwed it up -- the projectors were out of sync and they couldn't get it fixed, so they had to give the entire audience a refund. So that goes to show what can happen. (Oh yeah, also, when you're watching the movie, tilt your head and notice the effect, which gives you insight as to how the polarization works!) One thing about the Cyberworld 3D movie... there's a lot of CGI chrome/reflection that seems to really look good in 3D -- I mean, I could swear that somehow the stereo enhanced how good the reflections looked! ...or maybe it's just how hi-rez the IMAX film format is. Another thing to anywone who sees it: the eyes of the ANTZ characters *really* look realistic in stereo, and listen for 3D sound effects like rain against the window pane in the scene with the scarab beetle & praying mantis. The 3D in combination with your entire field of vision being filled is great! One final tip, in the theater I went to, the movie looks better if you sit in the back, up the highest. The reason being that a certain amount of light bounces off the screen, then against the ceiling and is depolarized, then bounces back off the screen again. The result, if you sit to low in the theater, is that the top part of the screen doesn't look as good (there's more of a disparity between your two eyes noticeable at the top of the screen). Gee, now I've played the movie up so much that people reading this before seeing it might be disappointed. So forget everything I just said! :-) | ||

Hey, I too just saw this movie last night...b4 that I knew next to nothing about stereo glasses, etc. After a couple of unsuccessful begging attempts at the IMAX staff to let me keep my pair of glasses I started looking through the web. Now I'm set on buying a pair of shutterglasses. Can't wait. I know it won't be as good as IMAX but hey, worth a try! Problem is that here (UK) they only seem to sell the ELSA Revelator, which I hear that they're not as good as, say, the Eye3D and H3D. Eye3D are really let down by the fact that there is only 3 websites that sell them : Taiwan, USA and Germany (the latter in German). Any UK guys/gals out there? Bill | ||

Hi there, I've saw the IMAX films in Las vegas last year. it's using the LC shutter glasses. and very heavy. not comfortable if you using for a long time. The polarized filter glasses is best chose I think. , it can be a giftway for users & don't have glasses repair problems. If IMAX can release their 3D titles, you could see all of 3D movies thru PC & monitor . PS. i-Art don't have distributor in UK yet. When I was in New York City I saw the Cirque Du Soleil 3D Imax movie. They used the shutterglasses. It was amazing and made me feel like I was in the movie. I saw only a tiny bit of ghosting and no flickering. | ||

Can you imagine that this sounds a little funny to people who, like me, are using polarized 3D glasses for decades? Although microelectronics can realize dreams many times, sometimes you don't need them at all to do the trick! |
