i'm interested in getting a head mounted display. I've seen products like the sony glasstron and the phillips scuba on ebay and other places online, but i can't seem to find very much information or even reviews. I'll be using it mostly for gaming (sofII, q3, etc.), and web browsing. My main question are: 1. Am i going to get headaches like i've heard with those 3d glasses 2. Will they work with regular graphics cards (ATI, NVidia) 3. how imersive is it? 4. Does anyone know anywhere in sothern, CA where I could possibly test out one of these displays? |

I have used the Cy-Visor and was not too impressed. In the end I went with the Sony Glasstron, which is EXCELLENT if you can get hold of one. They occasionally go on Ebay but are pretty pricey these days since they are no longer made, if you want a stereoscopic one then you are into big bucks as they are like gold dust. Immersion I think is akin to watching a 20" monitor from about 2ft, the benefit though is you can attach a tracker like intertrax 2. My advice: If you can, try before you buy. PS, Philips Scuba is a toy, I would leave it alone unless you want it for a VR museum. |

Oh, and for the glasstron only go for the PLM-700 or the LDI-100, as the ones meant for watching movies are VERY low res. The PLM-700 and LDI-100 are true 800 x 600 |

Thanks Ray. There are no 700's or LDI-100's on ebay right now. Would you know anywhere else I can find one of either model? |

My advice is to save a search on EBay and wait until one comes up. That's what I did. |
