I'm thinking of getting a big plasma monitor for watching movies and stuff. The thing has a S-video input so I can connect it to a computer and use it as a monitor. I have an ASUS V7700 deluxe with shutterglasses. Would I be able to view 3D on this plasma display? |

Plasma sets have a slow decay rate, so field / frame sequential 3-D will be ruined. This is also true with LCD projectors. ..Unless you go with a high $$ Vrex polarized LCD unit. DLP projectors can do field-sequential, but converting the 3-D video properly (and properly being the key word here) from interlaced to progressive is important. |

The 'phospors' used in Plasma displays should be pretty similar to those in CRT's. A major problem with all the Plasma, DLP and LCD stuff is that they digitize the input signal and trim it to their fixed internal refresh (60 Hz!?) and resolution. Therefore they are out of sync with the input signal and consequently out of sync with the glasses. Christoph |
