Comment: I saw alot of complaints about getting LCD shutter glasses working with GeForce4 cards and NVidia drivers. Why? If you go to NVidia's stereo 3D section, there are two downloads - one 3.0.87 Stereo3D driver download and another 3.0.87 Display driver download for either W2K/XP or 95/98/ME. I installed these (after removing the current display drivers - 3.0.82) and it worked flawlessly with my Eye3D Premium glasses, in every stereoscopic display mode. BTW, I'm on Win2000 with a GeForce4 TI 4200 with dual-monitors setup (nView) - one a CRT, the other a FPD. Couldn't ask for a more problematic system. No problems on any side - 2D, Desktop spanning, or 3D. Now onto the question. My current CRT is a ViewSonic 17GS (yes, I hear the laughter) and I would like to get something that can handle nearly 120Hz at 1024x768 (and better at lower resolutions, of course). I see a Nec/Mitsubishi MultiSync FE791SB that is not too expensive and does 1024x768 @ 116Hz (640x480 @ 160Hz). Any other CRT monitors worth checking out? Please be specific about manuf. and model. |

iiyama product are good ... But what you want to do will send the stereoscopy to the hell. At refresh rates higer tan 100Hz the slow green phosphor problem is so visible that the stereoscopy is almost for no use ... I use from this reason 100 Hz on al my systems, even when I can use 160 Hz ... |

Any decent recent monitor should have the specifications you want. I mainly (only) use sony monitors, many monitors have equivalent specs. I have only one real advice buy the best monitor you can afford, it is a lasting investment. As for the green phosphor problem never saw any difference between 100 and 120 hz.At work we use 120 hz because we have no choice ,the graphic driver off the cards we use only allows stereo at 120hz. At home i use 100 hz for stereo apps not because the green phosphor but because i get less flicker from the 50hz (europe)frequency from the lighting appliances. |
