Can u tell me if the virtua track is good for games... cause it s less expensive than the Interax 2 too expensive gadget ? Secondo; does the P5 glove work well with a HMD and a head tracker; What i mean is : Can i just set the p5 gloves for the up,down, right, left and buttons without affecting my head track free look. Or the p5 absolutly track the mouse mouvement. Hope anywone understand me... lol maybe i m to advence for my time ;) thanks |

The P5 works with IR-LED's. You have to hold your hand in front of a base-station which contains the IR-sensors. So you don't have full freedom. If you wear a non-see-through HMD and don't keep an eye on the base-station you may loose contact. The P5 comes with a SDK and a mouse emulator, which is reportedly pretty jerky. Don't know if you can combine it with a headtracker, but maybe it'll do the trick. Christoph |

Good luck with the Virtua Track. I can't get mine to work at all in games like Quake 3. The software is horrible!!! And instructions consist of a one page readme file on a floppy disk. No tech support, doesn't work, and good luck! |

UK, they are working on a new direct input driver which should be ready in a week or so. This should fix any problem you are having with your existing driver. |

Great Service! They sold you something that simply does not work! Magnetic trackers are old technolgy! Why do you think no one else carries including the HMD manufacturers? Vrealities can put all the icing on their service that they want but sorry buddy it doesn't work. If anyone here can tell me exactly how to get it to work let alone work with something like Quake 3 then speak up. Otherise DO NOT BUY THE VIRTUAL TRACK! |

Who is Stewart? Anyways if this is Vrealities please answer the question? You have avoided my emails and it is getting expensive to call overseas. There is only one readme file and this is what is says and no help in getting to work with games as promised??? It is aboslutely useless and they don't support it. HOW DO I GET THIS TO WORK WITH QUAKE3 or OTHERWISE? http://members.lycos.co.uk/vrman/DCP_1953 ----------------------------------- Welcome to Virtual Realities. You have received Virtual Realities, Virtua-Track-HeadMouse. This system includes the program disk, the Virtua-Track, the Virtua-Track connector/adaptor cord, and the electric adaptor. INSTALLATION: 1) Verify you have all of the necessary components, listed above. 2) Place the Virtua-Track on your head, the Virtua-Track will be in the back, adjust the head strap as needed. 3) Plug the Virtua-Track connector/adaptor cord into the Virtua-Track, making sure the arrow is pointing up and the connector/adaptor cord is pointing down. Actually, this cord will only fit tightly if connected as mentioned above. 4) Take the other end of the connector/adaptor cord and plug the electric adaptor into the back of it. 5) Now plug the connector/adaptor cord into a serial port on your computer. 6) Plug the electric adaptor into an electrical socket. 7) Load the program disk into your computer. Double click on the MY COMPUTER icon, then double click on the A drive (or your 3 1/2" disc drive). This will bring up an installation screen. If you are ready to install the software, click on the setup button. 8) If you are going to use the Virtua-Track as a pointer only (thus utilizing the existing mouse to click on the icon pointed to by the Virtua-Track), click on the Virtua-Track setup button only. OR 9) If you are going to use the Virtua-Track as a pointer and mouse, click on the Virtua-Track setup button, complete the installation, then come back to this menu and click on the MouseTool 3 install button and complete that installation. NOW you should be ready to go. Please read the attached sheet for fine tuning instructions and hints on how to utilize the Virtua-Track fully. Tips & Instructions for use of Virtua-Track - The Virtua-Track is easiest to use if Windows is set up with an extra large scheme as follows: Right-click on the desktop, select Properties, go to the Appearance tab when the window opens. Under Appearance, there is a setting called Scheme. In the drop down menu, select Windows Standard (large) or (extra large). This will make it much easier to 'click' on smaller icons. - The headband is adjustable by using the knob on the headtracker. By turning the knob right or left, you can reduce or increase the size of the headband for a comfortable but secure fit. - The headband is normally worn with the tracker module in the rear. It will not operate correctly when upside down. - The cable assembly has an extra cable on it labeled AUX, which goes to an auxiliary power supply of 5VDC and 225mA. - When the Virtua-Track is installed, a window will open up to configure it: Click on Calibrate, and follow the on-screen instructions to calibrate the Virtua-Track to the comfortable limits of your head motion. The filter settings control how the mouse moves in response to your head movements. Filters: Filters affect the way your Virtua-Track relates head movement to cursor movement. 1. Jitter affects the mouse resolution and jumpiness. The higher the number, the lower the mouse resolution, but the less jumpy the mouse is. 2. Magnetic and Tilt are adjustable from 1 to 7. Magnetic affects the strength of hardware filtering done on the earth's magnetic field, and should generally be set at 5. 3. Tilt affects damping in the nodding (elevation) direction, and should generally be set at 3. 4. Kallmann Filter FC is a function that changes the weight of the samples. The filter gives more importance to the most recent mouse sample, and less to the previous samples. By decreasing FC, you can cause the filter to give more importance to older samples, and by increasing FC you can make the most recent samples more important. Interval indicates the sampling period in milliseconds. HeadMouse analyzes tracking data for the 40 most recent periods. A typical setting is 50, or a total of 2 seconds. Filter Curve (FC) selects the time-sensitivity curve as shown below. Each curve is labeled with a number to be entered into the window FC. Curve 0.10 nearly averages the data over the last 40 periods, and the cursor will be very steady, but respond very slowly to a change in head position. Curve 1 weights the data linearly decreasing with time: 100% of the most recent period, 50% of the data from 20 periods ago, to 0% of the data from 40 periods ago. Curve 40 takes almost all its data from the most recent periods: the cursor will respond very quickly to a change in head position, but will jump around considerably in response to heartbeat or body tremor. MouseTool 3 MouseTool is a program for inputting "mouse clicks" without a physical click device (switch closure, suck and puff switch, etc.). The program allows you to "click" at a cursor location simply by keeping your mouse at that location for a (user-definable) period of time. When MouseTool has been installed and run, you will see a small box as pictured above: Click on the green light to disable the automatic clicking while you configure MouseTool 3. To re-enable the automatic clicking, click on the red light, and automatic clicking will be enabled again. The dwell-actuate time is adjusted under the Options button. The program has excellent Help files |

UK, We have not had an e-mail or phone call from you and you know this. What is your order number? Yes we know, you do not have an order number. The VirtuaTrack works ok with the previous driver provided and works perfectly with the new Direct Input Driver being released on Tuesday. We have tested the new Driver with Unreal II, Elite Force, Quake 3 and many other titles and it is fantastic! Regards, Virtual Realities |

Sorry everyone I will stop the Anonymous posts as well. UK sorry for calling you Stewart. I'm just frustrated that our tracker does not work and I do not have answers. We sold a few units and couldn't back up the claims. That is also why we dropped the price from $450US to $310US over the last week and half. I realize everyone is frustrated and wanting refunds. Please be patient. |

You dropped the price earlier in the week to $310.00US and now you have it at $399.00US???? What is going on?? You seem to be playing games with the price, the product capabilities and games on this board. I realize you use this board as a marketing tool but please get to the bottom line and please let me know how to get it to work? Spend more time supporting your customers and tech support and stop playing games with posts on here. PLEASE stop the anoymouse posts and then aswering yourself and deal with getting this to work! |

###The last posting on this board was not done by Virtual Realities. ### That's right, the post by 'Virtual Realities on Friday, February 14, 2003 - 09:56 pm' seems to be bogus. Telling from the IP addresses there is a very high probability that it was posted by the same person who posts under the name 'UK'. I hope this will stop now. Christoph |

'Kevin' and 'UK' also post from the same IP address range, so there's a very high probability that Kevin = UK. That's no crime actually, but pretending to represent a certain company is. Christoph |

Bottomline the tracker does not work as advertised. It is old technology. And the price changes daily. It is now priced at $385.00US. All fact! Vrealities can whine all they want but those are all facts. |
