Here's a story about a new 3-D film being produced for mainstream theatrical release. It is the third sequel in the SPY KIDS series: http://www.aint-it-cool-news.com/display.cgi?id=14397 If it is successful, perhaps it will kick off another wave of 3-d movies. -Mug |

Quote: "If it is successful, perhaps it will kick off another wave of 3-d movies. " One can always hope, I'd love to see it happen again! The boom of the early 80s introduced me to 3D and I've been hooked ever since. Ged |

###for mainstream theatrical release### I searched the web for all available information about this movie and found no confirmation in favor or against a mainstream theatrical release. It is unclear. This can be a 35mm film for wide release or an IMAX-3D film or a theme park ride film (like Terminator 2-3D). The whole film can turn out to be a 2D film, a 2D/3D mixed film or a 3D film. It can be polarized or anaglyph or Pulfrich. I found these bits: "Once the characters go into the videogame, the audience puts on the glasses, and it's in 3-D." Rodriguez adds," This speaks for a mixed film or even Pulfrich (no please). "Robert will be shooting the final installment with James Cameron's High Definition 3D camera that he just finished using on the GHOST OF THE ABYSS Titanic IMAX project. [...]" This speaks for a normal IMAX-3D movie. Christoph |

"This speaks for a normal IMAX-3D movie." Christoph, It is a Miramax production for theatrical release, just as the first 2 films in the series were. Cameron's HD film is slated to be released in 3-D in both IMAX and 35mm formats. -Mug |
