I have noticed these movies on DVD for sale on eBay, obviously these titles are bootleg but I was wondering if anyone has any details on them. Are they in widescreen, how did they create or locate a 3D version of the film, are the effects good. Many thanks. | ||

Only a few people have good versions of these films, they all originated from Japan, all had subtitles and were only on VHD format which was made by Victor (Japan Victor Corporation JVC), National (Panasonic/Technics) made players as well as a few others. A VHD is basicly a record in a case that looks similar to a black Laser Disc if dismantled, No groove like LP's or CED's but made of vinyl- the ultimate goal for a record collector! Some are wide screen and some are not. If you buy a 2-d DVD widescreen and play it next to the VHD you notice the VHD has more on the sides than the dvd which was cut a little to show up bigger on your 4:3 tv. Years down the road they will probably sell Extended Wide Screen  Jaws, Friday, Metalstorm and Space Hunter are Widescreen but films like Dial M for Murder were cut to 4:3. The effects are pretty good but the headsets that came with these players have darker lenses which prevents ghosting and headsets don't touch your ears either! Most of the films on ebay came from 3d magic corp as vhs and had the subtitles removed, and the VHD's that they copied from were poorly cared for so the best is to get from someone who has one with properly cared for discs. I'm not selling from mine now though but if I do e-bay may be were you find them. News from CES 2003 Inovation award winner Sensio 3D is that most of these films will be released on dvd for their new advanced component video field sequential system so if that happens that will be the way to go. Costly but so are VHD's and players- sometimes in the thousands of dollars for a VHD player w/ a couple of discs from Japan, which will probably be damaged in shipping;) Any ways no one's probably reading this or they are saying I'm wrong, but do your own research don't take it from me, just don't buy the movies if they aren't direct from VHD! you will just want a clean version later. Some films that 3d Magic put out were converts that weren't available on VHD. Only like 16? or so were ever released on VHD in 3D- Jaws 3D is the fist being #ed V3D-101 and Friday 13 pt 3 is V3D-103. Many 2d and music titles available as well ie Aliens, Star Wars etc.... | ||
