I am getting my self a pair of E-D glasses and a top of the line gfx card (radeon 9700 or geforce FX) I have been reading around a little and heard evrybody talking about how screwed you are if you want to run stereo 3d on a radeon. But in the WINx3Ds compabilety list it says radeon 9700 is suported and works with directx8 aplications. So wouldent it work fine if i ran vrcaddypro under windows ME with directx8 ? I see no need to get directx9 yet as there probably wont be any dirctx9 games for a while. And i have boath Windows ME and XP. and use ME moastly for gameing. So wath is bad about vrcaddypro ? Do it run slower or give bad qualety stereo 3d ? Or is it infact not compatibel with all dirctx8 aplications ? I would just hate to buy that overpriced 52db vacumcleaner over the faster 9700. |

I have no ATI board, so I haven't tried VRCaddy on ATI yet. On nVidia VRCaddy is a mess, but that's understandable, since the developers know that nVidia user don't need VRCaddy. I know ATI boards are the main focus of the VRCaddy developers and they do the best they can to stay with ATI-driver, DirectX and game developments. However behind VRCaddy is a small company and as far as I know they have no partner contracts with ATI or MS. nVidia is a big player and the stereo-functions are embedded into the reference driver. VRCaddy and WINx3D are wrappers by 2 different companies, so you have 4 different pieces of software which have to work together, the ATI-driver, VRCaddy, WINx3D and the game. Good luck. Stereo quality is another issue. In the past I wasn't too lucky with VRCaddy here. nVidia goes to great length to provide individual configuration files for each game ever released. The results are often mindblowing. nVidia always uses full-res page-flipping, while new versions of VRCaddy usually start with half-res-line-blanking. Later they try to get full-res working utilizing WINx3D. The eDimensional glasses can handle line-blanking, but you have to mess with some software activator each time. VRCaddy is a nice tool for people who already bought a VGA-board and don't want to switch. Go ahead and buy a Radeon if stereo-gaming isn't your priority. Christoph |

We pay more attention to Windows2000 & XP, so putting more effort on our VRCaddyXP. One thing to correct about the words by Christoph is 'Half-pageflip'. It was 2 years ago that we first released VRCaddyMe, which displays in half-pageflip. Since we released VRCaddyPro and VRCaddyXP, it is all 'Full-pageflip'. |

Actually I didn't say a word about half-res-page-flipping, but half-res-line-blanking. Line-blanking means always half-res of course. That's exactly what happened with the last version of VRCaddyXP. First you released the line-blanking version and weeks later the beta test for the page-flipping version starts. Anyway, keep going, ATI is a large market. Christoph |

### the latest eyeSCREAM 2000 5.02 This 'latest' version is terribly old, 1.5 years or something. Wicked3D eyeSCREAM is discontinued. The company behind this driver - Metabyte - still exists, but they left the stereo-market. As far as I know some of the former eyeScream staff is now working for nVidia on the reference stereo driver. Christoph |
