A few questions for owners of i-glasses SVGA 2D or 3D: 1. I have read on this board that many people were sent defective glasses and had to return them several times for repair. How common is this? 2. How good is the FOV? Does it seem like you are looking through binoculars, or a scuba mask, or what? 3. How good is the resolution and readability of text at the max resolution? 4. Has anyone played 1st person shooters with these glasses, and if so, how was it? 5. How comfortable are the glasses? How long can you wear them before you get eye strain? 6. How easy is it to develop new 3D applications/demos? For example, how difficult would it be to create a simplistic 3D building and navigate through it. 7. How good are the current crop of tracking devices? Thanks in advance to anyone who answers these questions! |

1. Yes, several people have had to return their i-glasses. I was one of them. I had to return it 2 times before it was fixed. But ever since then it's been working great (about 1 year). I have no idea how common it is. 2. Here is a simple parallel. Have you ever had or used a View-Master as a kid? Well it looks pretty much like that. That means you do not get a full sense of immersion, but in my opinion, the 3D version makes up for some of this. 3. At native 800x600, text is perfectly clear and readable. 4. FPS games are the best with the 3D version. If the game doesnt support 3D, however, I always go with my regular LCD monitor instead of playing it with my i-glasses in 2D mode. Until I find a spectacular head tracker, what's the point? 5. I have never gotten eye strain from wearing them. Of course, I'm a programmer, and work 8-12 hours a day 12 inches from a monitor, so maybe I'm used to it. As far as comfort, the only negative is you tend to get a red mark on your forhead after 15 or so minutes of wearing it, other than that it feels just fine. 6. I don't know, how well do you know the Windows Direct3D API? What's your programming background? If developing , I would suggest you stick to NVidia based graphics cards because of their native support for 3D. 7. When you find out, let me know!!!! That's what I'm trying to find out. |

I just became an Owner of the SVGA 3D glasses, this past fri.. Waited to work with them to make comments!!!! First off, yes the design stinks I think, not to comfy.. Im in the works of making an immersive design with foam, PIC'S later... The picture size wasn't as small as most say, maybe like around my 19" monitor, so still 800x600 on your face with a sharp picture for $500 + isnt to bad, unless your one of those junkies that have to have the highest of RES.. 800x600 for games is way fine for me so that's a plus... Setup was very easy just plug it in your video card and use your Nvidia stereo driver to get things going, one thing I noticed is it didn't matter what size you chose for the monitor size!! My refresh rate is always 90, wounder if I can get some pointers out there on getting it to 100? The 3D mode 3d1 seems better to use and the ghosting is GONE, GONE I say. Yes the FOV is small and there's a black border around the screen that you can see real good, im not sure if that is gone with a high FOV... I tried playing QuakeIII sitting down and felt my head always looking down, not sure if that was for comfort or because im sitting and it's to much to keep straight.. I will give a review when I get to move 360 degree around. I have a intertrax2, just got it so that is my next setup, also getting a VRgun.. Making my own little VRPOD so I don't wounder off next door... I got these from Armand at VRealties, a good price with low shipping, 2days from purchase.. Where else can we buy a headunit under $600 with monitor like sharpness.. Not to many places to pick... Id say i-o glasses put these in a Vr helmet like VFX1 and add a few bucks cause the design of glasses stinks... C U's later... Ku |
