OK, I'm totally confused about drivers. Eveyone keeps mentioning Wicked3D (which evidently doesn't exist anymore and all I can find is Voodoo drivers for them). Also, EyeScream drivers. The term "universal driver" keeps popping up also. But from what I see the drivers are very specific and only come with certain glasses so there is no way I can get them. So much for universal.

WinX3D does work! But they are not drivers so much as a programming API. VRCaddy doesn't do anything for me, it would never go into 3d mode, and it doesn't support Descent-3 the one game I really play allot. One other problem with VRCaddy is I'm not going to pay $20 for a Win98 version and then another $20 for a WinXP version. For $40 I can just get some new glasses somewhere and use the drivers that come with them.

Anyone know of any other "Universal Drivers" that I might try? Where might I get them?

Thanks for any info...........SamualT

The right driver depends on:

1) glasses controller
2) VGA chipset
3) operating system
4) content, application or game

What are you using?

In some cases you don't need a driver at all.
In others there is no solution, it just won't work.

I used the term 'universal driver' in the past for software which squeezes stereo3D out of D3D, OpenGL and Glide games, which were not designed for stereo3D. Now I call them 'game drivers'.

The situation concerning game drivers is pretty grim for non-nVidia users and even for nVidia users the future is uncertain.

Christoph:
That was a very nice driver list. I missed that before. The Scitech driver looked really promissing, but I don't guess it supports ATI Radeon 9700 because the "Advanced Tab" under Stereo Configuration will never un-gray letting us set things the way we want. Their tech help forums haven't been very useful yet, but I may keep trying because it does look interesting.

In any case, thanks very much for the list! At least it gives us a place to start.
