Anyone know if you have to pay a fee for using a game like Unreal Tournament to use with a Virtual reality setup? Displaying it in Arcades and charging them to play.. Anyone have any info on this? |

Actually, those company's license each mode of distribution and presentation. I'm sure that with enough money, you could acquire the rights to present the game in an arcade format. Businesses cost money. |

Technically as long as you're not charging them to play the game I'm not sure they can do anything about it. If you make sure that it's clear that they are paying to use the equipment and if each station has a selection of various games....anyway, just a thought. |

Pretty much you said a MOUTH full!!! They don't want you charging anyone any money to play thier game without a license aggreement... But like you said, you would charge for the use of the HMD & device to move around and pretty much the area they are standing and so on.. Now at epic it says you can use the game for retail network PC establishment but not in an arcade-like cabinet or a POD, now im taking that as those $8,000 pod's where you have your own software running VR.. I wont be using a POD to begin with... I guess I will find out on eway or another.. See why I asked this question IS!! Most of the VR stuff I've seen, which hasn't been in over 2 years, always had Unreal Tourny playing! But epic came across me as they dont even want to sell anyone the license to use.. To clear up the other comment, I dont want to put any game in an arcade format, I just want to use my VR equipment with my PC's and my copy of game that I bought and my devices that I've put together and display them... Don't see any harm in that, in the fall if im setup and they get me, hopefully I can respond to you guys from jail... LOL LTR |
