whatelse is left, theres 3 ways in thinking of buying a HMD.... 1. High res = low FOV, not the high end HMD's 2. Wide FOV = low res 3. Whats worth the money!! Im sure if you had $23,000 then the Nvis SX is the choice. I never got to try a Visette, I have a VFX 3D, so 35 FOV is the best I've seen, the res is low. Now my SVGA 3D looks nice, but im seeing 29 FOV. What a shame that there can't be a thin line between the both, specially in 2003. I would of thought that getting the res higher would cost more then making it wider? Or why is it so hard to have true 640x480 like the V8.. That is still $10,000.. Now we know why Vr doesn't make money with shows, how many people have to try the equipment to make your money back when you can only charge $5.00 per use, what 7 to 8 min. What is he talking about seeing flickering when brightness, might be a faulty HMD, anyway to fix that.. |

Whats sad is actually the Visette is not outdated. It still compares very well to newer HMD's. What other HMD has 60 degree FOV and doesnt cost 3k or more. |

You can candy coat the Visette if you want but used is used and 640x480 is much lower than the 800x600 HMD's available for a much lower cost. |

Weird. Looking at the auction link now says "The seller ended the listing early and cancelled all bids." Are you mad Kudawg? I wonder what the minimum reserve was... Unless the sale went on - to occur offline! (To Kudawg? ;-) |

Oh yeah. I had wondered this. The listing said "Built in Polhemus magnetic tracker" (in bold). Would that work without the base unit (i.e., the source of the tracker, which the listing said nothing about)? The Virtuality pods had a big ring you would stand inside of. I figured that was part of the tracking mechanism. Or maybe not, that the source was down further below inside the pod. If ya would've bid on that & got it, I wonder if you'd have got it to work? That guy (and other ebay sellers) say things like "SAVINGS OF ALMOST 80%" - as if their items were new and as if it was that simple. Buyer beware I guess. |

The Pod's have really nothing to do with tracking, they do not pick up sensors of where you are located, it's a mater of feedback and computer to link 1 or more Pods together... Pretty much I think a big over kill, costing way to much... Alot of the visette's had the option of the tracker... A recent price list I found had it with the tracker for $3800 NEW.. |

Being magnetic, doesn't the Polhemus require a source? Unlike InterTrax and consumer trackers (VFX, i-glasses) which are sourceless. |

The Visette is fitted as Standard with the InsideTrak from Polhemus. This does require a source and also a ISA slot in your PC to place the required processor card. Without these the tracker will not work. Please note that the InsideTrak is however no longer produced or supported by Polhemus. |

We also cannot offer support for the InsideTrak as the SDK we have is based on the old version of WindowsNT. But we will try to offer as much help as possible. |
