What type of HDTV set are you using? As in is it a CRT, LCD, DLP or Plasma display device? And are you using a progressive scan DVD player? These questions will help determine a possible solution. |

It is not a CRT, LCD or Plasma so I guess it is a DLP? Mitsubishi 55" with a Pioneer DVD player. |

If it's not a LCD or Plasma set, there may be chance of doing it with your present equipment. If you are *not* using a progressive scan DVD player, check if your television / display device has a menu option for it progressive scan conversion. Many HDTV sets upconvert interlaced NTSC & PAL to progressive scan. It's HOW this conversion is performed that is the key. If the conversion is set to the AUTO or FILM mode, there's a very good chance the field integrity will be compromised. But some VIDEO conversion modes will interpolate ("Bobbing" in PC terms) which keeps the original field (now frame) order intact. This is the ideal mode for field-sequential 3-D. If you *do* have a progressive scan DVD player, look for this option in your DVD player instead. Note that some video modes do not work properly for 3-D video, and also note some pro-scan DVD players are strictly "flag-readers" for the DVD pro-scan conversion, so there are cases where you may out of luck, short of buying a new player to overcome this hurdle.. |
