I'm thinking about purchasing the eDimensional ED glasses. However, I am very interested in the X-eye and X-viewer HMD due out this year. First of all, what are the anticipated costs for the new HMDs? I am willing to spend $500 - $600 for a HMD. What are the advantages of the X-eye and X-viewer over the ED glasses? I just don't want to waste $100 for the ED glasses if I'm going to purchase one of these new HMDs. Thanks.

The biggest advantages with a HMD compared to shutterglasses is that it doesn´t have ghosting (see ghosting at www.3d.com ) and it can be combined with an headtracker - creating true Virtual Reality. On the other side, ED-glasses is a great, and cheap, product and gets stereoscopic vision at a resolution above 800x600, the resolution of the best HMD´s (including X-eye and X-viewer). My guess is that the picture quality of the X-eye will be better than that of the X-viewer (due to the OLED technology is better than LCD). Maybe the X-viewer will have a higher Field of View though. We´ll see in march...

By the way, the cost of both the X-eye and the X-viewer is yet unknown. Again, we´ll see in march/april.
