I'm wondering if anyone knows what goes into making fiberoptic bend sensors, or if there is anyplace that sells the parts to construct them. any websites with schematics or designs? I see all these premade gloves, and wondered how much the individual components might cost.
Has anyone tinkered with them? is there a better way to capture the motion? I have a P5 glove, works ok but I want to see how much better fiberoptic is without buying an overly expensive glove

Thanks

The P5 does not use fiberoptic bend sensors. I don't know who sell fiberoptic bend sensors in the open market, and they are very expensive since most of them are custom make. However, you can cheat. When fibers bend, they got stretched, and fiberoptic is no exception. You can measure the amount stretched very very easily a LED and a photo detector.

yea, I've wanted something better than the p5, just to tinker with mostly. I'll have to see if I can get some things put together sometime.
