I´m planning on playing some games with a new stereoscopic HMD and headtracker (like VirtuaTrack or InterTrax 2). The stereoscopic viewing hits the framerate per second pretty hard. Adding a headtracker, it should be even worse. How much worse? And to compensate for this, should I buy a better videocard, CPU or more RAM? What part of the PC is being hit by the headtracker?

What Stereo HMD are u gonna use? I would think ur better with trial and error yourself.. See what works and doesn't before people give you thier setup...

alot of the headtrackers just act like mice. I've got the virtuatrack, I can use it to move my mouse on the desktop, along with using mouselook in most games. think virtuatracks new driver can be keymapped too. I haven't seen it hurt the PC perfomance much. It does flip out if you don't have it configured right, i end up with the character spinning in circles looking at the sky sometimes, very bad when running from missiles. still though, I haven't seen much of a hit on performance, but it might depend on the hardware your running.

None. Consider moving the mouse in a first person shooter... it doesn't have any impact on performance. Same deal with the head tracker. The only tracker that might have a hit on performance is the CCD camera one, as it's partially software based.

I´ll soon buy a HMD so a gyromouse is out of the question. Anyway, I thought a headtracker could be used simultaneously with a mouse? I was hoping to use a headtracker in games that don´t have mouselook.
