I´m planning two buy two firewire cameras to capture 2 hd videostreams directly to my powerbook ( osx). The only cameras I found so far can only perform 15 f/ps in hd mode. Is this enough ? How can i genlock these cameras ? Has anyone experience in recording two videostreams with this filesize ? What kind of computer and graficcard should I use- would love to use my 1 ghz powerbook g4 ? hazi | ||

15 fps is definitly not enough for smooth video. I'm using a 3D setup consisting of two Sony Firewire cameras, running at 640 x 480, 30 fps. You can take a look at my website for more information: http://mitglied.lycos.de/stereo3d/3dmovies.htm Just one hint: It is very annoying to manually adjust the parameters of left and right cameras manually (to get equal brightness, contrast, color, ...). To simplify this process and to sync the video streams, I developed the Stereoscopic Multiplexer driver, however, it's available for Windows only. | ||

Nice site Peter. To anonymous, the ideal is capturing 640 x 480 at 30 fps. You do not need a genlock device, if you plan on doing post-production (with Final-Cut, for example). Before you begin shooting your video, place a paper in front of your cameras, start recording, and then remove the paper. In post production you load your left and right sequences, find the spot where the paper disappears, and start recording from that spot. 3DexPert | ||
