Seeing as it's possible for active stereo projection with the X1 according to some of the X1 owners here with the help of a PC, is it possible to view 3-D DVDs only using a stand-alone DVD player and the projector? I've been planning on purchasing an X1 merely for the use of 3-D and regular movie viewing and I guess I'm not that much of a gamer (yet). Would a demuxer be needed if a PC isn't used? I'm trying to avoid mixing in my PC with my A/V gear (there's enough of a tangle as is). Thanks. | ||

Matt not sure. People have this working using PowerDVD and Windvd and a PC. If you have a DVD -player on your PC why not? Its just unpluging one cable and plugging in another... Search this forum on 'playing 3d movies' or IMAX Unclebob | ||

Unclebob, It sounds easy enough to switch back and forth but I'm looking at building a mini-theater in my basement and I already have a separate office for all my PC stuff in place so I'd like to keep things tidy. I'd hate to lug around the computer and I'm trying to avoid buying another PC just for movie viewing. I couldn't really find other posts relating to stand-alone DVD playback with a projector. Would any X1 owners maybe give it a try with just a stand-alone DVD player? Thanks a million. | ||

Now that I've looked through more posts, a lot of people have been wondering if the BenQ 6100 and 6200 are compatible with shutterglasses as well as the X1. Anyone want to give some feedback about the BenQ projectors?... Anyone? | ||

Hey Matt, just to add alittle.. I have had my Nec vt440 projector for 4 years and tried the spy kids 3d movie in my DVD with those red and blue glasses and it worked pretty good, I got a kick out of it.. So I don't see why not, someone on here said my projector could not do 3d, maybe 3d gaming which I never tried... Anyways good luck. Kudawg | ||

Hey Kudawg, I should have been more clear in saying the movies I want to play are off of interlaced format DVDs. Thanks though. Unclebob, if you could explain more on the video sender I'd appreciate it. What exactly is it and what does it do? Thanks. | ||
