Hi, I'm anxious to get some considered opinions about the 3D color pictures on both my site and
several others who follow the "crypto 3D" method
which I named Anachrome. This "compatible" anaglyph approach allows pictures to be posted
say,400x300 postcard size and look quite good.
If you click to enlarge to full screen the
same file has very clear color 3D, you also have the option to open a perfect flat version, but
that is seldom needed. My site is www.anachrome.com , another that I really admire is www.bymal.com . I post small directory page of
twenty other sites that follow this "Anachrome"
philosophy to varying degrees. Check out the images, especially with the special Anachrome
glasses. Good cyan/paper glasses like American
Paper Optics sells are an acceptable alternative.
This is a diifernt approach to anaglyph that
is gaining ground very fast.

Update July 20, 2005...
Color 3D anaglyphs of the RGB type do continue to gain ground. The brilliant work of Dr. Phil Stoffer of the USGS, Menlo Park CA. facilty, is the best example of large scale shooting and posting in an organized format. Over 1500 images
with excellent color are now on line covering a large percentage of the Nation Park Service
units in the western region. They post full color,
tightly composed anaglyphs that look great. They
advocate using thin CYAN filters and refer to
anachrome glasses in that context. These images
are very good and the color is great. Anachrome glasses are now used exclusively in 5 online college credit courses from public community
colleges, and are listed in NASA's short list
of 3D anaglyph glasses suppliers on line.
Thousands of serious 3D fans have purchased
these superior plastic RED/CYAN glasses. The
color visible with these glasses is more than
5 times as many distinct colors as would be visible with ordinary paper red/cyan glasses,
which "overkill" the filtration. As stated earlier, "A small amount of red "Must" bleed through the CYAN filter to allow the brain
to see anything like normal color and enjoy
some freedom from typical extreme "RETINAL RIVALRY EFFECT".
