hello all, I'm new here and need a suggestion for a mostly -small & lightweight, -flickerless, -nvidia fx5900xt & 1600x1200 /75Hz-crt supportet and low price 3d-shutterglass... I'm mainly a Alias|Maya-user, so it would be very useful if there is support or a sdk for Alias|Maya.. thank you. |

"hmm.. is this really the best?" Probably no but you specified"and low price 3d-shutterglass" did you not? "doesn't looks really serious their website." Eh are you serious?? I bought both their glasses and their headtracker and I'm very pleased but it seems that you know better. |

First of all Edimensional is a pretty "strong" company. Compared to a few others you may not have to worry that product or the support for that matter are out of business. No I haven't any 2004 comparisson but I have tried Elsas's(Revelator) and Asus(some years ago). I think I went back to the store the next day with the Asus glasses, much too heavy. I have just given you my opinion and I think that I can almost promise you that you aren't gonna be unhappy if you by ED's. I think that ghosting is always gonna be a factor regardless glasses. And since the ED's have a good fit(adjustable), they are light and they support pageflipping, interlaced and under/over format I think it's a good deal. |

ok thx, but now I've read that they got their own driver and I would like to buy a glass that's based on the nVidia reference driver... so what is the best (!price doesn't r. m..) alternative to edimensional? -Is there any more lighweight and wireless one with more field of view? -what's the best "shutting-format" for shutterglasses? /which format is renounceable? ..It's just that I would like to render 3d-content and also included editing/translation software plays a big role for me... would be nice if you (>> ??? please type a name in the username field, so I know who wrote the answer) can give me some comparison.... |

About driver: I don't use their drivers I use Nvidia. If you have a Nvidia based card you can use Nvidias driver. I sometime use their drivers if I want to use some other format than pageflipping which isn't often. More FOV, why? You must have a very big screen then. I have never felt that I have needed more FOV concerning my glasses, monitor yes but not the glasses but that's me. Shutterformat? I'd say pageflipping. "which format is renounceable" don't know what you mean by this, sorry. Don't know if I can help you with the last topic but consider this: You want to use Nvidias driver right? So the glasses are just a tool it shouldn't matter what kind of glasses you use. ED's glasses already supports more format than Nvidias drivers do. |

thx, so if I only use nvida's driver... is there any more lightweight wireless glass? And with more FOV I mean, that you can't see the glasses-frame in your view. I normally don't wear glasses, so a wide as possible FOV (not the monitor) is really important for me... please tell me another good & actual manufacturer then edemensional so I can compare for my own... It's just that the most informations on this site about shutterglasses are a few years old, so a link to a actual comparison would be very helpful... thank you. |

just listen to what everyone is telling you! Why are you fighting and trying to find an alternative when everyone is telling you to just get edimensional and be done with it! right now they support every mode of 3d, are the lightest weight, and support both nvidia drivers and others. plus they are still in business, unlike most other companies. just get them already! |

:-) I'm sure ED will not cry if you buy something else. I stand by my opinion about the glasses and I guess at least one agrees with me. And another thing, why don't you get more facts about glasses from the companies you ask about and then ask us about our opinions. Then we really can discuss the issue rather whos website is the best. Feels like we are back to square one with this since you don't seem to care so much about our opinions. Good luck with your hunt on 3D glasses I hope you will be satisfied, I know I am. |

I have a couple of sets of the wired "X3D Extreme" system, and it looks like the same shutterglasses as the ED, but the software could be different. They are relatively cheap, about the same as ED. I've seen them on the web in a number of places, and they also come bundled with the Slingshot DVD box sets (Look up "Extreme 3D System" or "X3D shutterglasses", etc, on Google). I don't use the software that comes with the glasses. I prefer Stereoscopic Player or StereoMovie Maker and Player freewares. The only thing I _do_ like is the "3D Controller" that you can install from the CD that shows up down in my taskbar. This is the only way I can turn my shutterglasses off and on at will, using both page-flipping or line-blanking options, and it also has a very handy "reverse" switch. The Nvidia driver alone does not provide this option, i.e., your particular application software has to somehow trigger the driver if you don't have a "controller". This is really important, for example, when looking at interlaced 3D on webpages or in a media player. During a fresh install or after an HD reformat, I usually install the controller from the CD, then I upgrade the Nvidia drivers from Nvidia.com. When you install the controller, it automatically installs the (now out-dated) Nvidia drivers off the CD, but when I upgrade the Nvidia drivers from Nvidia.com, the controller is not adversely affected (it still works ;-). Too bad you can't just install the controller, but that's not a real big problem. I guess if you never use the interlaced 3D format (sometimes called "interleaved"), you don't need the controller, i.e., the shutterglasses and the Nvidia drivers would do the trick. I just like the option of being able to turn my glasses off and on this way, and as I said, I use the interlaced 3D format every now and then, too. P. K.
