I will. If we get enough people perhaps we could approach and get a group/bulk discount? We'd have to arrange it for all payment direct to them of course. Or perhaps Christoph could speak to them? Unclebob |

Don't bet on a group discount! It sounds like you're cooking up a logistical shipping nightmare! Your best bet would be to get people together a short driving distance from yourself, that way, emagin can ship it all to one address and people can pick up their stuff directly. Maybe then eMagin might consider a bulk discount. Try approaching eMagin with the idea yourself and see what they say. They do have a sales representative, try that email address on their website. |

I'll buy the Z800 if: 1) it does not have the heat/color/contrast problems of the i-glasses 2) it can be hacked to double its FOV |

I e-mailed exec VP Susan Jones of Emagin about the FOV concerns. She stated that 40 degree usable FOV is about as big as anyone would want to bear the weight (using optical techniques currently available0. As the FOB gets bigger, weight typically gets larger if the range of "eyebox" also remains usable. Eyebox (range of useable eye positions) is as imp't as FOV in being able to look at an image and feel comfortable. Eyebox keeps you from having to continually readjust and squint to see the image, which can cause eye fatigue. Cheap microscopes and expensive microscopes and telescopes both list certain magnifications such as 200x, but it is eyebox that makes the difference between a $10,000 microscope and a $50 toy microscope. Here we needed to create a large magnification for FOV and a large eyebox. |

Wouldn't that kind of HQ fresnel cost a lot of money. I mean the GPI must be very hight since the fresnel is so close to your eyes, right? |

Am already sent a e-mail to sales dept at Emagin to put on pre-order if can do that. We have waiting long enough and but this isnot perfect in all ways it looks the best option we have seen in long time. Ever for price of it. Just to hope it not another never coming out prootype like there are as many others. How will the z800 sell them- on website or in stores fast after? |

To previous anonymous, turns out pretty much anything, if you put a decent spin on it. Like a lucky toenail that got stepped on after which the 'previous owner' of the nail because unstoppably lucky at poker. $1,250. 9 bids. Regarding the z800s, I hope they come out soon. The sales rep keeps saying 'call next month'. I am starting to have my doubts and deja vus. |

"I am starting to have my doubts and deja vus" yeah i wonder what causes these companies to wait so long after anouncing them.... I just wish someone would do a deal with nvidia, sony or ms and release a "proper" consumer hmd. The next playstation will have a nvidia gpu so that seems like the perfect platform. |

I think they have always stated end of 2nd quarter(June) availability and credit card odering 30 days prior so we should know more in 1-2 months. They will probably officially launch for order taking at E3 in May. |

Sony already sold a proper stereo-HMD, but they stopped it years ago. Stereo on a game-console should be native, so the nVidia wrapper technology isn't required and the gpu doesn't matter. However nVidia's experience with stereo is an advantage. Christoph |

doesn't the z800 deal with stereo on-chip? so it wouldn't matter what the hardware is. |

No display device can produce stereo on it's own. The soft- and hardware has to deliver two channels. Christoph |

so a dual core gpu would be favorable for stereo? Regarding SLI, Nvidia had the opportunity the divide the frame into grids like ati's method but stuck with half the frame... i wonder if they did that to make stereo easier to implement in SLI/multi-core gpu's. |

I will, but I'm waiting for an independant review first. I had been planning on getting that iodisplay one, but every review I saw said they weren't worth it. I've got my fingers crossed that this one will be better, but I need a little re-assurance before I hand over my £££ "doesn't the z800 deal with stereo on-chip? so it wouldn't matter what the hardware is." It just emulates a set of shutterglasses, taking alternate images from the video, you won't need dual head or anyting, but you will need a Nvidia! |

Emagin will take orders one month before they can shipwhich they said will happen in june. Look for a great showing at E3 with all the bells and whistles. They plan to have a station with Half-Life, Flight Simulator and a military game that slips my mind. |

If the Z800 is good enough for military VR training than I would think that it would be perfect for gamers. Quantum3D showed off the Z800 at their booth at Itec. With Quantum3D Thermite, Z800 Enables Embedded Simulation And Training http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/050425/255399.html?.v=1 Emagin also was at SPIE Defense Security Conference http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/050329/295364.html?.v=1 http://www.quantum3d.com/press/PDF/2005/04-26-05_CG2_ECATT-MR.pdf |

Just because something is used in training and simulation applications doesn't make it good. I-glasses and i/cy-visors are commonly used in military vr training as well. That being said, I have seen the emagin hmd at several conferences and I am very excited. |
