What is the difference between the nvidia open gl quad buffered stereo and the consumer stereo driver?

What actually is quad buffered stereo, and what does the consumer driver use?

Thanks for your help

do some search on this site the difference between the nvidia open gl quad buffered stereo and the consumer stereo driver has been explained a few times.
In short
consumer driver: the driver uses the information from the z bufer to compute the stereoviews (opengl or directx).
Quad buffered stereo: opengl mode using 4 video buffers => 2 front and 2 back buffers => 1 left and 1 right buffer .
front bufers = display images
back bufers = computing images
The application computes the stereoviews not the driver.
