All we know that shutter glasses work with CRT monitors because CRT emits non polarized light: CRT -> non polarized light -> [[polarizer]+[Liquid]-[polarizer]] -> [eye] ------------------------- Method 1 (cheapest): ------------------------- But hey to make Shutter glasses for LCD must be less difficult and even cheaper. Light is already polarized by LCD. So we just need to remove first polarizer on shutter glasses and done: LCD -> polarized light -> [+[Liquid]-[polarizer]] -> [eye] Note. We just need to rotate glasses in correct angle. For example if LCD light is vertically polarized then +[Liquid]- must rotate LCD light horizontally and [polarizer] must polarize light vertically. Refresh is no problem now. BenQ LCD monitors can do 125Hz and even 200Hz FPS (http://www.benq-eu.com/Products/LCD/index.cfm?product=515) If I'm right then someone must to find thick shutter glasses with possibility to remove one [polarizer]. Quality must be better than on CRT because we jus removed one filter. ------------------------- Method 2 (I'm not sure about that): ------------------------- To use standard shutter glasses we need just to put depolarization filter (if such filter exist on LCD screen. ------------------------- Method 3 (only for manufacturers): ------------------------- Inside LCD screen put layer of +[Liquid]-: [Light] [Polarizer] [LCD][Polarizer] +[Liquid]-[glass] Then users will need only cheap IMAX glasses one eye with vertical polarization and one eye with horizontal polarization and +[Liquid]- layer will separate video frames by rotating light by 90 degrees. LCD monitors can't get 125 hz refresh. The specs say about 75, not 125. The edimensional glasses changed their polarization for lcd screens so that's no problem anymore, but the refresh rates are still low. |

Yep Its the response time that counts with LCDs, TFTs. Response times of 16ms gives 1/0.016 which is 62.5 Hz is the quickest any inidividual element can respond. However this is not the whole story. 16ms response time is the time for a picture element to go from white to Dark to c70% white again - not all the way back. They are quicker turning on than turning off and this is how its been agreed to measure it. Further the technology allows for only those elements that change to be effected. So the whole screen is not refreshed only those elements that change do. The fastest response times are now down to 9ms which is a 111hz equivilient but this is not the complete cycle on on off on as described above. OLEDS are very different though. Unclebob |

To Anonymous You wrong. I have tested ED and it is not worked properly with 3 different LCD monitors I used. Only CRT is still way to get stereo with shutter glasses. |

I read a report in another forum of LCD monitor on ED's new shutterglasses and they kept reversing stereo. So there are problems. |

V.S. actually you are wrong and you are using the old glasses then. The new ones are able to view every LCD monitor I tested. I went to circuit city and looked at 25 different LCD screens. They all worked. The drivers may have issues, but we are talking about polarization, not drivers. |
