After comparing results of the Virtual FX and the E-D Wireless 3D systems I can see that the Computer generated 3D video will be best for my needs. If there are any suggestions for building a PC for 3D I would appreciate them. The system I need to build will need to take in VHS as well as DVD video and output to a Sony VPH 1031 Projector that maxes out at 800x600 at 60hz (I will upgrade that when 3D capable DLP or LCD projectors come down in price) For the video card I am considering the eVGA Personal Cinema FX 5700 that uses the Nvidia GeForce 5700 chipset. I am not sure which way to go for a motherboard or commercial box yet. Also I would like to balance cost .vs. total memory & cpu speed This system will be used outdoors where the temps can be over 80 degrees F and the humidity up to 90% |

I too, am beginning research into one of these HTPC's (home theater pc). I am very curious to see what input the community can give. As an aside, I have built my last 2 PC from scratch, and found that the most overlooked speed bottleneck was my Hard drive speed. The fastest possible RPM with the largest buffer is recommended. Nowadays, memory is so cheap, The rule of thumb I was taught was 2 512K sticks are faster that 1 1GB stick of RAM. So be sure you have plenty of slots on your motherboard. -Cheers |

I saw a POST in another thread about there being problems with using 3d on the GeForce FX 5700. Is there an update on that problem? |
