I still can't believe it! Yesterday I received my copy of Spy Kids 3D in Sensio 3D. Watched some of it on my 17" LCD monitor with edimensional for LCD shutter glasses. Excellent (apart from the ghosting at the top half of the screen, which I am told is a problem with my edimensional dongle). If only I could get the glasses working with my Epson EMP-30 projector. Definitely worth another go at trying to get it working. I disconnected my monitor, plugged in the projector, activated the glasses and, to my utter amazement, it worked! Superb 3D, albeit with horizontal lines of slight discolouration and a very minor amount of ghosting. Now, I've tried hooking the glasses up to the projector before, without success, so I tried to think of what has changed in my system since I last tried. Firstly, I have switched from 3D unfriendly ATI to nVidia (FX5600 XT). Also, I have completely removed the edimensional drivers and solely use nVidia's latest stereo drivers and E-D.exe to activate the glasses. As you may or may not know, when you activate 3D LCD mode with e-d shutter glasses, the screen darkens considerably, this was the same with the projector, so darkness was an issue. However, with all the lights out and the curtains drawn, I sat and watched Spy Kids 3D from start to finish. Even with the horizontal lines of discolouration and the darkness issue, it was far superior to the anaglyph version. This solution will do me just fine until I can afford an Infocus DepthQ! |

Chris, I have a few questions... 1. Is "Sensio" just a trade name for generic shutter glass stereo (field sequential). IOW, can we use H3D, X3D, Edimensional, Virtual FX, etc to view "Sensio" material? 2. Is this NTSC or PAL? 3. Where did you order it from? Thanks, VRJUNKIE |

Sensio uses field sequential i believe. Only the eDimensional glasses work properly with LCD screens or projectors. |

Sensio is a company that makes expensive 3D video processors that they say are compatible with LCD projectors. Sensio DVDs are in a side by side format. I use Peter Wimmer's excellent Stereoscopic Player to play these DVDs in field sequential format. 1. On your first point, if you have a CRT monitor then you can use any of the glasses you mentioned. However, if you have an LCD monitor, you will need edimensional's newest shutter glasses which are LCD compatible. Be warned though, you need a pretty decent LCD monitor to get reasonable results. The faster the response time the better, but I would say that 16ns is absolute minimum. 2. The discs are NTSC - not too sure whether they are region encoded or not - I'll check that out later. 3. I bought mine from www.cwonline.com for $32.99 which included shipping to the UK. Let me know if you need any more information. Chris |
