Can anyone recommend the maximum number of wireless glasses that can operate off of a single PC transmitter source? Is it possible to split off 2 transmitters from a single dongle to double the amount of glasses that can be used for viewing? |

The nuber is unlimited. It is possible to connect 2 transimters to get beter signal covering bigger area, but some combinations do not work (e.g. NuVision and e-dimansional box). The reason is low output power for the transmiters ... My company GALI-3D is just now putting in production a spliter box with following futures: - eye reverse switch - output for 2 emmiters - LED indicating power and stereo signal presenece - boosted power for the transimters on the output - possiblity to combain 3 of such boxes and connect 4 tramsiters - price will be about $50 The device will be availabe on the market during 2-4 weeks. |

Definitely keep me posted. This sounds like it will be a great and very useful product. Unlimited number you say? If so I'm sold. |

Unlimited = theoreticaly. In praxis each user must be able to see the IR emmiter. With an emmiter placed on ceiling, it is not a problem. 2 emmiters can cover the area even beter. Normal emmiters (e-dimesnional, NuVsision) has usually 3m range - so they can cover realtively sufficent area. One warning - if you want to use eDimensional glasses, order the old CRT only model. The new LCD compatible one has reduced sensitivity to 1 m only (the reson is to avoid interference with IR light emmited from LCD monitors) ... Another category are high-range emmiters. Even signal reflections from room walls are enought to drive the glasses. In this case the nuber of galsses is realy unlimited ... |

MH, I was reading documentation on crystal eyes and they were saying there that you shouldnt mount IR emitters at an angle >45 degrees, is this true for e-dim ones also? also looking foward to the IR extenders your company is developing. Regards Clyde |

Clyde: yes, it is true. The emmitres are directional - the IR LED emits the light only in a 45 deg cone or so. eDimesnional emmitres works similar - if you are not in the cone tha glaseses do not have the signal. This is the main reason why 2 emmiters are vely useful to cover a bigger area. Good adjutment of the emmiters position according expected user position is always esentional. |

MH, Do you have any info on the high power emitters from e-dimensional? and their price? I know the obvious thing is to check with them, unfortunately I havent got a reply, and there is no mention of the emitter on their site. Any help will b great. Thanks Clyde |

Clyde: The price is $400. The technical parameters are similrt to Stereographics ELR2 (http://www.stereographics.com/support/emitters/index.html). I did not tested this emmiter in praxis, but I can request detailed information for you if you are realy interested. Btw. we work on an universal high-range emmitor working with any type of shuterglasses as well. It will be available during 1-2 months, just now it is in a prototype testing stage. The price will be probaly interesting for everybody. |
