Is it possible to make anaglyphs from one regular 2D photo. If yes, how?

Use Photoshop (or similar layering-capable app).

Select and separate various foreground and middleground elements from background, put on individual layers.
Grow size of foreground slightly, shrink size of background slightly so there is some overlap between layers (even if moved).
Make duplicate document (still layered). Doc1 will be [L], doc2 will be [R].
Nudge foreground elements horizontally (and progressively--more shift further you get from middleground layer). Foreground layers will be shifted Right for Doc[L] and Left for Doc[R]. Background layers will be shifted Left for Doc[L] and Right for Doc[R].
Make a flattened composite of each doc. You now have finished L & R parts of a stereo photo.

To convert THAT to anaglyph...

Make duplicate doc of Doc[R], call it Doc[A].
Copy [Red] channel of Doc[L], paste into [Red] channel of Doc[A]. Save.

Done!

There are finer points to all this, but that'll get you started. Remember, though, that you won't have True3D--it'll be more like paperdoll cutouts. But sometimes that is believable enough.

Also, everything except the first step (separation of elements) can be put in a PhotoShop macro in order to automate part of the process. But the first step is the hard bit.

I upload my photos on Phereo and it automatically converts my photos into all possible stereo formats including anaglyph; vertical, horisontal and checkers interlace; etc. Cool on-line stereo feature (http://www.phereo.com/).

I just got an email from Phereo guys, about their not working 3D Vision mode and something we should expect from them. They told to expect something really BIG in the beginning of november. Didn't tell me what exactly, but pointed out that it has to do with editing and viewing of stereo ( Duh! )
