Just curious how the quality is. I prob wont purchase one till either the price drops a grand or so or IIS goes out of business and I can pick em up for some rediculosly cheap price. Has anyone had a chance to try out the optics. Let me know your experiences...compatibility ease of use ect... thanks Phil |

Well, let's hope IIS doesn't go out of business... A better scenario would be that a larger co. buys/ invests in them and they do the IPO thing, and come out with an inexpensive consumer level HMD. (A side note: IIS needs to change their website-- it's looking a bit dated.) |

I too am hopeful we can stay in business long enough to satisfy those supportive consumers like Phil. Ditto on the website, it sucks. Just hired a designer on Friday, what would you like to see there? Steve |

Steve, on the site design... hmm... maybe avoid the black background. Psychologist say in general black and red are bad in design-- (also bad luck with Forte and all) white background, and blue, yellows, and green (a steel blue interface made rendered from 3D high poly models would be good).... make it exciting and load quick. If you're going to do flash, make it fast and use it to add value. If I see anymore simple animated scaling rotating text, I'm going to puke. Maybe use Flash for an interactive intro-- maybe starting with what VR is (people who approve budgets never know anything), what it can be/is being used for-- make it MTV and cool-- but informative. Make it look fun--- maybe divide site into two parts-- game and "applied VR" or some such nonsense-- separate the VR gamer from the researcher... apples and oranges...(The gamer will be scared by the researcher pricing aspect and the researcher by the gaming "is-this-a-novelty" aspect, but you need to market to both.) Use VRML to show off what it looks like-- blaxxun plugin is good for that http://www.blaxxun.com Include customer testimonials! Start an affiliate program-- I think Microsoft's has some service that makes that easy. just my 2 cents. |
