I intend building up a computer system for viewing enzymes, proteins and other biochemistry molecules. Are these specifications okay? Pentium 4 CPU, at least 1.3GHz 19" monitor, possibily a CTX, supporting 100hz and above. Windows 2000 software or should I get NT4? 20G or higher harddrive 128MB RAM, either RDRAM or DDR RAM OXYGEN GVX1 graphics card Software, from the internet (is it possible to get suitable free software that is supported by the GVX1?) I want software that can actually build the molecule. Shutterglasses : Eye3D-Premium 4-in-1 (Is it compatible with the free software?) Are these specifications correct/suitable? Any changes/recomendations will be very welcome! Thank you |

Windows 2000 The OXYGEN GVX1 graphics card has a din3 connector,i think you should buy shutterglasses with a din3 connector. (see stereographics,Nuvision, revelator). |

The Eye3D-Premium 4-in-1 review on this site says that it's compatible with anything, so it probably is compatible with anything. |

Eye3D-Premieum could sync to anything and thay will work with manual control, but without the min-DIN-3 conector you can lose the sync. sometimes and you will be forced to manualy adjust left/right eye evry time. I realy suggest to buy NuVision 60 GX LCD glasses ... The graphic card you mention is the best choice for the mentioned task. Only if you want to use 21' or 22' monitor, I suggest to buy Oxygen GVX1 Pro, witch have better RAMDAC than Oxygen GVX1 . I use folowing software in stereo under NT 4: MSI WebLabViewerePro, MolMol, VMD , my oven code for ELD map visualisation (see http://mysak.umbr.cas.cz/~husakm/Public/MarchingCubeELD/MarchingCubeELD.htm) I unfortunately do not have any expereinces with w2k , but it shuld theoreticaly work ... |
