Folks, In anticipation of the new Asus 8200 video card I'm upgrading my monitor to a 21 incher. From an old thread below it seems CTX having highest refresh rate for a reasonable price. I'm looking at the PR1400F from CTX. It lists a refresh rate of 98Hz at 1600x1200, does it mean it won't work with ASUS board/driver/glasses combination ? Any other recommendation will be so gladly appreciated. The requirements are mainly for 3d stereo gaming, but I also need excellent text quality at hi res for surfing/web, also excellent color quality for digital picture display. All that and I want it less than $1000. You folks think I will have any luck with this ? KB |

Maybe you should consider a lower quality brand instead of looking for the highest refresh rate. The higher-end brands will use different phosphor coatings in the monitor to reduce flicker. This will result in MORE ghosting effect when used with 3D glasses. I used a cheap Magnavox monitor and I didn't have any ghosting problem. |

Also, try Ebay for a used monitor. I got a used 21" Nokia for $250. It's HUGE in back. Apparently a lot of companies are dumping these now in favor of flat panel screens. |
