Ok i dont have hardly any idea about all of this 3d stuff but here is my problem i am making a 3D racing physics engine/game for a computer competition and i thought it would be awesome to have the judges were like a 3d headset - hear is what i need i wanted the headset to go completely on the head on it wouldnt be anything were you would have to look at your moniter(like shutterglasses) i want it to like project it onto your eyes or have a screen built-in i also would like (this is not a requirement) it to have speakers located on the headset. i am writing the game in a so-called game creation package so i wont be able to program in special drivers - but the package is written in direct x 8.0 so that should help. resolution doesnt really matter as long as it isnt lower than 640x480 and 16bit i want to be able to just hook it up to my computer without it messing other multiple moniters i will have set up. does anybody have an idea of what product is like what i described? any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks does anybody have an idea of what i need? |

That's the first time like I've seen anyone put like the word like in their writing. That's like real cool, man... There are two main options for "affordable" HMDs... the easiest is the VFX3D at www.issvr.com Or you can purchase any one of a variety of "personal displays" by the likes of Sony (Glasstron), Olympus (eyetrek), Canon (don't know), the I-glass model and another by a Korean co- can't remember the name. One of these with a tracker by www.intersense.com should work. (I think intersense has mouse emulation software, so as long as you have mouse look in the engine you will be using, you should be ok...but check with them.) You'll like need a lot of money, man. Like good luck with your project...;) |

If u want there's an older version of the VFX3d called VFX1 that you can still find on places like Ebay and such, you'll be able to buy these HMD's for about 300 bucks now, and they have head tracking! And are stereo capable also... To me a bargain that can be beat! |

go to ebay and bid on one of the vfx1, glasstron, eyetreks, and i-glasses You can always add a motion tracker later-- |

The Guy said he doesn't want a motion tracker... go for a good pair of I-glasses, I've been satisfied with mine thus far(except for the low res) but the stereo effect has been awesome in some games.... One of which is Driver!!!!! |
