I bought a slide projector and an lcd portable tv to try and create a projection tv. So I took the tv apart and have isolated the lcd screen so I can put it in the portable projector and get a picture on a screen. Looks pretty good. One big problem. The output of the projector lens to the lcd screen is 70mm in diameter. The screen is about 73mm by 56mm. So the corners get cut off big time, like I'm looking through a big keyhole to the picture on the screen. I'd like to buy a lens that can take the output of the 70mm light and exand it to something that covers the whole screen. The focus lens is free floating so I am not limited by space there. What kind of lens could I get to do this? Here's a of what I'm after. If you have a better idea let me know! Thanks |

Here's a perhaps... LCD is OK, but the contrast ratio can never get too good. DLP's are much better, but they use REFLECED not tranmitted light, so they don't work for a slide projector... or do they? I have 2 1970's and 1980's vintage Bell & Howell slide projectors that used a 2" front surface mirror in the optical path, after the condeser/columnator but before the projection optics. At 500 watts, they were bright enough. What I don't know is WHERE TO GET A DLP MODULE? I can put the thing where the front-surface mirror was, the focus will have to be changed a bit, but the mirror was in a collumated section. I'm very serious about this one; I need a DLP, preferably 1" to 2" diagonal that is fairly easy to interface. Larry Elie |
