I'm new to 3D. Here is what I'd like advice on. I want to play online First Person Shooters (i.e.-Counter Strike, Quake, etc...)in 3D. I have: Nvidia Riva TNT2 Model 64. Generic 17 inch monitor that only supports up to 85 hz at 800 x 600 resolution. I would like to know what the cheapest yet effect 3D solution (I assume shutter glasses) would be in this case without buying new monitor or board. I have seen many suggestions of at least 120hz refresh rates in order to avoid "flicker" and "eyestrain". Can you live with "eyestrain", or does it bother you way too much? I have read of some sort of "doubler", would that fix the eyestrain? Any help would be greatly appreciated |

I'm still looking for help on this one. One thing i can tell you- As i mentioned in other posts, i have a 19" max xj810 monitor, my setup is capable of 1024 x 768 at 120 or 140 hz. I get ALOT of bleed, specially with games, particularly in dimly lit areas of maps where there's lots of contrasting images bright on dark). Suspecting something to do with phosphores glowing too long, that's been mentioned, but i don't know of a specific spec so that i can tell how a monitor will perform. |

You can use the revelators with your setup but I suspect that the flickering would get to you. You can see what the flickering would look like if you can set your monitor to refresh at 42Hz. Does your monitor not support a higher refresh rate at 640x480? |

Ok, a couple follow up questions... 1. The flicker-is that like a strobe light like actual on/off/on/off or just barely percieveable flutter that'll strain your eyes after a little time? 2. Bleed-Does that mean that the image is "ghosted" like the a partial transparency overlay? And how bad does it affect the experience? The reason I ask these is because I've been talking with Another Eye 2000 in where ever they are and I don't know if it's worth the $99 + S/H or not. Also, any general description of how much 3dStereo glasses improve your Counter Strike experience would be greatly appreciated ;^) |

Alrighty... thanks for your posts Robert and Richard. I just got the new Detonator drivers from Nvidia for my tnt2 riva 128. Now it, along with my monitor can go up to 640 x 480 = 140hz and 800 x 600 = 100hz. So if 100hz is to low and causes me eye strain, i'll just switch over. I'll place the Another Eye 2000 Wired on order tomorrow thanks again, Josh PS - See my other post "Another Eye 2000 coming to america" for current price, shipping, etc if you are trying to find info on them. (I had a difficult time) |

Well, how are they working? By bleed, i meant that you can see a faint picture from the left eye's image in the right eye and vice versa. In brightly lighted areas of for example, a game like counterstrike, the effect is less pronounced than in dimly lit areas with lots of contrast. To me, it's bad enough to make the game unplayable. But i suspect the monitor, not the glasses. I wish there were a way to confirm that without spending another few hundred $$ on a new monitor. Anyone else get lots of bleed using the eye3d's? |

I have been Writing AnotherWorld, Inc back and forth concerning shipping specifics, price, customs, stuff like that. And they are around the world, so they get my emails in the middle of the night making the communication process very slow. SO.. Finally I am faxing my Credit Card info to them today. I'll post what I think about them here when I get them. |

Ok, I got my Another Eye 2000's. Wahooooo! Work great. The only time I notice lots of bleed is when I'm running out of a dark tunnel, and the sides are severly ghosted on each side, but thats about it. Other wise, seems very clear. Extremely happy with my purchase, and customer service. I've been working with the same marketing guy, Jae Lee, since the beginning, and it's the best service I've ever had. My glasses had a tiny crack in the bottom right corner of the right lense. I figured I'd have to pay shipping to claim warranty, but he told me to ship it back with a shipping receipt and they'd reimburse me! Eeeesh, sorry about all the rambling, basically, I highly recommend them! |
