I thought I'd toss my hat into this small, but entertaining, ring. I was poking around online and brainstormed my own "if I could get a VFX1 to work with a GeForce" scenario. There appearently is such a thing as an ISA to PCI converter. Check out these links. http://www.costronic.com.tw/Ev71p.htm http://www.designnotes.com/CIRCUITS/PCItoISA.htm Its probably clear where I'm going with this, but I'll go anyway. The first link looks good. It does, however, look like it will need some sort of software interface. That would probably have to be custom made for the VFX1 ISA card. Thats not my field so I've no idea if this looks reasonable, or if I seem like an idiot for proposing it. Assuming the converter could be made workable, all that would then be required is a compatible video card. This might not seem like much of an improvement, but I haven't run into any P4 or AthlonXP motherboards with ISA slots, and god knows I don't feel like having ANOTHER computer sitting around, dedicated to Quake 1. Well, thats my rant. |

You might wanna check out DMENDES thread at http://www.stereo3d.com/discus/messages/21/614.html?1004063992 Where he get the VFX1 to work with any VGA card, but perhaps more important in your case, makes an attempt in trying to get rid of the ISA card totally. I dont know how long he has come yet, but you can look at his homepage at: http://www.lpc.ufrj.br/~dmendes/new_page_1.htm Its in portuguese, but translates easy to english in any web-translator like altavistas babelfish. Try to get in contact with him, as he is a very nice guy. Regards Johan |

Thanks for the links! His project does look really promising. I'm amazed that he's sharing his information. That's really generous. I'm also glad to see that he's working on a stereoscopic 3D method. |

I've gotten my VFX1s to work with a 2x-AGP video card. Most games run too fast now! I have to use mo-slo or similar! Even though it's much faster, even the tracking seems faster, you'll be disappointed in the playability because of the graphics. I like comanche 3 because it supports it natively, but it's hard to even see the crosshairs! I'd like to play with the vfx3ds. Anyone know how much better the graphics are with the 3ds versus the vfx1s? Not specs, but a personal opinion.? Anyone? Greg Vincent Calgary, Ab |

Greg, What card are you using? How did you get the AGP card working with the VFX1. Questions, questions, questions... :-) Ram |

Its my understanding that the resolution on the VFX3D is superior to that of the VFX1 only in mono mode. In stereo 3D the image would appear about like it does on the VFX1 (this could be way off, that's just what I've gathered). |
