I saw a customer at a computer show buy multiple Cybervisor 3D glasses from xgaming and say he got the glasses to work on a JVC $8000 projector system and had the metabyte logo floating around in his room. He said he was using the add-on $1000 HDTV ready filter screen and running at 1024x768 with 120 refresh. Anyone know about this product or |

Sounds like he's got a CRT (tube) projector. Such a projector usually has a VGA input and behaves like a multisync monitor. Such a projector is compatible to any shutterglasses system. Line-doubler and other digital gizmos on the projector should be deactivated. He would get an even better image if he used the ASUS, ELSA or VR-Standard page-flipping drivers. I don't know what the 'filter screen' thingy is all about. It should not be required for the Cybervisor glasses. If the guy in fact used something else than a CRT-projector it would be really interesting to know what he did. Christoph |

Best models: Best models for price: Drawbacks .. limitations... why isn't anyone really doing it? |

This projector (JVC G11U) is an LCD one !! No way how to project only with one piece in stereo. You must have two + a demultiplexor + polarized filters .... |

The G11U is a D-ILA projector. Never heard of anyone trying D-ILA with shutterglasses. D-ILA is kind of a reflective LCD technology. According to the datasheet the projector accepts up to 78 Hz input, not 120 Hz. I don't think the guy at the trade show knew what he was doing when he bought the Cybervisor for his projector. Um, from the jvc web sight looks like the add-on 'Stereo Kit' is a wave-retarder filter placed between/over lens assembly. As person mentioned in previous thread, for the D-ILA-type projectors. If so, you would need 2 projectors of course to make this work. I'm trying to get an answer from contact person to confirm as we e-speak. I don't see how an active system can work with this technology. :-? later, Ted |

- Get a demultiplexer, like the CYVIZ xpo.1 - Use projectors with very high light output - Use quality polarizers or even better use pre-polarized projectors (Barco offers such) - Use a special screen which doesn't hurt the polarization - Win the lottery first, you'll need it Christoph |

It's not easy... the only type of projector that works for sure with shutterglasses, is the old-fashioned three tube CRT-projectors. They are expensive (+100.000 euro or US dollars, I'd guess) and troublesome to set up. And heavy... mine weighs close to 100 kg. If you can get your hands on a cheap used (and preferably small) one, it might be worth the try. Alex |
