Here's my question. Can I alternate between LCD's in a HMD in the same manner as shutter glasses to view stereo interlaced images? Turn the right LCD on when viewing the right image and the left on when viewing the left. I can leave the backlights on but just turn the video on and off. Anyone tried this?? In theory I dont see why it would not work?? What do u think?

I am not sure what you mean.
In VFX3D HMD the HW page flipped or interlaced
signal is corectly distibuted to the left and right eye LCD. It work the same way for stereoscopic video. VFX3D even shows corectly an static interlaced image in stereo (work in 640x480 mode).Evrything is the question of the specific HMD electronic ...

Was is the resolution of the Vfx3d? 240x320 or something like that right? What good is the stereo if you can't make out the picture?

You are partialy right. The resolution in stereo
is aprox 260x380. I had the posibility to compare
the stereoscopic efect with LCD glasses visualisation on 22' monitor. The most funny thing is that the picture in VFX3D is looking subjectively better than on the monitor - the result of no ghosting and eye acomodation problem compensation by the VFX3D optic ... The resolution is not enought to efficient text manipulation but good enought for game playback (you usualy do not see details in fast action motion) ...
Especialy the new nWave 3D DVD looks nice in VFX3D.

I'm not talking about the VFX3D. I'm asking a general question. I want to alternate between two LCD's while page flipping(I believe) a stereo image. Will this produce a stereo effect?? Has anyone tried this?? Or maybe its a common practice. I'm asking because I'm trying to produce a stereo VFX1 Linkbox.

Givig diferent signal to left and right eye
LCD screens will produce hi quality stereoscopic efect without flickering . It is absolutly common method used in all HMD including VFX1, VFX3D, Sony Glastron stereo and other. For VFX1 the efect was achived by delivering odd lines to one LCD and even to the second ...
