Recently I aquired Asus 3d glasses and tried to see whats that. Did a fresh install of XP, Detonator 23.11 + stereo driver from Nvidia site. All tests passed ok. Problem - any game locks up after textures loading. I tried every Detonator driver from 22.80 to 27.10 - same result. But with stereo driver desabled everything is just fine. Please help me resolve this mysterious problem. On my pal's computer everything is working fine. My config: Asus P4T mobo P4 1400 @ 1539 Mhz 512 Mb RDRAM VisionTek GeForce 3 (not O/C'ed) SB Live! value Win XP Pro Final Corporate Edition All the latest fixes and drivers installed. Games tried: Quake II Quake III Arena Retail RTCW And its working on my pal's comp PIII 800 + Asus GF3 with Q2 and Q3 games. And I did test it without anything O/C'ed. And I did disabled DirectX Sound Hardware Acceleration (source - GeForceFAQ.com) Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance |

I'm having this same problem, even with the latest August 2002 Detonator driver. I have a Dell 8100 P4 1.7 GHz with the Dell-supplied GeForce 3. None of the id games run in stereo without locking up, but they run fine with stereo mode disabled. Clasys, did you ever find a solution to this? or did anyone else? Thanks! Josh |

I think it has something to do with the Dell 8100 in particular. I disabled nearly everything in the PC (deactivated built-in LAN adapter in BIOS, pulled the modem card (which was sharing an IRQ with the GeForce3), although I didn't pull the sound card). I even popped in another hard drive and installed a fresh version of Windows XP Pro, then added the new Detonator driver, stereo Driver, then installed Q3A with nothing else. The problem still happened: Q3 locked up right after starting. So I thought it could be the no-name (except for NVIDIA on it) GeForce3 card... However, I popped it into an AMD Athon 1200 system (Gigabyte motherboard), added those latest NVIDIA drivers, and Q3A ran in stereo with no problems. Maybe its some rare thing having to do with only certain PCs? It's all I can figure. |

P4s - I have a geforce 4 420 64mb MSI card, I've had an MX 420 and a geForce 3 in my Pentium 4 1.8gig and they all hang when trying to run Soldier of Fortune 2 or Jedi Outcast in openGL mode - direct 3D seems to work fine. I've tried this on XP , 200 and 98 , it always the same , machine or game locks up with a frozen steroe image ( corrupt) on the screen. My brother has a pentium 4, his geforce 4 behaves the same and so do all the other cards i tried. I tried this on my friends Athlon and all the cards worked fine !! I am gonna try bugging MSI about this as I cant bug Intel or Nvidia directly. It may be worth starting a new thread to see what CPUs etc people have and the problems they encounter. My specs: gigabyte motherboard 8irxp pentium 4 1.8gig msi geforce 4 4200 64mb no irq sharing \ | / -RoB- / | \ |

This is just a guess, but I found that some games (Mafia in particular) crash only during initial game launch. I think this is occurring when it tries to play the intro movie. If you turn on stereo after you start the game, it works fine. btw, I found the ctrl-t hot key doesn't always work, but if you hit alt-t first, then the ctrl-t and ctrl-f3, etc. start working. Even at this point, only separation, gamma and fulcrum toggle seems to work. btw, if that alt-t doesn get ctrl-t going, you can just alt-tab out of the game to the desktop and turn on the stereo in the display properties. |

I have an aopen geforce 2mx 400 with elsa 3d revelator and everytime i try to enable stereo support, the computer crashes or restarts. I use the 30.82 stereo drivers under windows xp pro. I had windows me and worked flawlessly. I think it's a hardware problem. Something to do with the vga card and it's crappy power supply. I also installed Geforce Tweak Utility and enabled stereo 3d option. Quake 3 showed doubled image like when i enabled stereo 3d. But the glasses just don't seem to work (They do on a friend's computer running win98se) Anybody know what to do? Thanx |
