Athlon 1.4ghz MSI KT4 Ultra MB MSI GF4 4200 128mb 3D Card 768 MB RAM Win XP Pro As you can see I’ve upgraded! I recently upgraded my system to the above & re-installed flight sim. All worked well until yesterday. When loading FS2K2 it started as usual & went the the create flight screen. The picture of the airplane was missing. I had a black rectangle where the plane normally appears. I then selected “Fly Now” and up came the scenery loading screen. (much bigger than normal), then the screen went black. I then hit the Alt key to get the FS menu this appears but the resolution is wrong, (Text & Mouse pointer much bigger than normal) I therefore decided to uninstall & reinstall my Nvidia normal graphics driver, (30.82) I then loaded FS2K2 & the picture of the plane appeared once again. I then selected fly now & the program worked fine. I then exited & installed the Nvidia stereo driver, (30.82). I then either got the black rectangle where the plane normally appears. Sometimes the plane appears but when selecting "fly now" my screen comes up with the following error messages, "filelist.dat file error. Close FS & delete "Scenery\filelist.dat" Click OK to Continue." When clicking OK a similar error message appears, "filelist.dat file error. Close FS & delete "addon\tacoma\Scenery\filelist.dat" Click OK to Continue." The only way out is Ctl/Alt/Del! I then uninstalled the Nvidia 3D drivers & reinstalled Flight Sim. All worked fine but obviously no 3D. I re-installed the 3D drivers & rec’d the above error messages again. I’m at my wits end please can you help me on this problem that’s driving me mad. It has to be the Stereo drivers that are upsetting something! Regards |

I had a similar problem with Win 2000. nVidia have a new graphics and stereo driver pair, version 30.87. This has made my system a lot more stable. Most people suggest un-installing drivers before installing the new ones, I did not bother this time and it all worked OK, just remember to turn off any virus protection or software firewalls before you start. |

Tried but no luck! It goes like this:- Install 30.82 VGA drivers Run Flight Sim - All O.K. Install 30.82 stereo Drivers - Flight sim fails with filelist.dat error Uninstall 30.82 VGA Drivers Install 30.82 VGA Drivers - Flight sim Works until re-boot then I get same old problems. Have tried other drivers to no avail. When Flight Sim fails & I CTL-ALT-DEL to desktop then I het really bad shimmering on screen until I end program in Task Manager! I'm sure its something to do with refresh rates? HHHHHHHHHHHHHH EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE LLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL PPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP! |
