After messing around for many moons trying to get my Wicked3D glasses working with the Nvidia drivers, OR the Wicked drivers working in XP, I was about to give up. In fact I bought a pair of wired Revelator glasses so I would have a pair that worked with the Nvidia driver. Then a read a few messages here on this wonderful web site. One stated that he used Eye3D (I-art) activator 2.0 to turn on his Wicked3D glasses in XP. However the Admin said he doubted if the Eye3D "line code" would work on the Wicked Dongle. Well I am here to say it does work and it turns on all 4 modes! Works great! So how does this make it work with the Nvidia drivers? Well it does work by "working together". 1) In the Nvidia drivers set your refresh rate (in the stereo tab, click the button Stereo setup & test) for 100hz. If you play games at a different res than your windows desktop then use the Nvidia button "Set rate for all resolutions". You need to have at LEAST 100hz set. TIP: In XP on my system the slider for Stereo Refresh Rate does not work. It stays on whatever the refresh rate is for 640x400. So if you want 100hz for all resolutions, first set your 640x400 desktop refresh rate to 100hz. The when you go into the Nvidia tab the default for the slider will be 100hz. 2) Set the Nvidia Stereo to turn on with a hot key. Default is ALT+T which I did not like so I set it to SHIFT+F8. You will see why in a minute. 3) Install activator 2.0. This works by putting a icon in your system tray. It allows you to turn on the Wicked glasses in a game, or even in Windows for looking at pictures (very cool). You turn on the Wicked glasses with either a right click on the icon in the system tray or a "hot key" (like SHIFT+F9). These Keys can by changed in the control panel Activator icon. 4) Now test the Wicked Glasses by pressing SHIFT+F8. They should turn on. You wont see stereo on the desktop unless you open an interlaced 3D picture, but you will notice they have turned on and the screen is in a weird looking interlaced mode. You can also test the other modes (page flip, etc) with SHIFT+F9 through F11. SHIFT+F12 turns off 3D. Note however, if you hit SHIFT+F 9-11 more than once you have to hit SHIFT+F12 the same number of times to back out of 3D mode. 5) Now run a game. Once started press SHIFT+F8 to turn on the Nvidia 3D mode (or ALT+T if your left the Nvidia hot key the default). You will notice the game is now in 3D mode but the Wicked Glasses are not on. Now press SHIFT+F9 and you will see the "line code" for a few seconds and the Wicked Glasses will turn on. THERE YOU GO! It is now working. Now some issues with this: A) If the game changes resolutions say from the game menu to the game, or to cut scenes, etc, it will kick the Wicked 3D glasses off. Actually I like this feature as menu's look better and so do cut scenes. However when you go back to the game the glasses remain off. Just hit that trusty SHIFT+F9 key again and your back in business. B) The 3D can start reversed. You will notice this as the 3D will look weird (not really 3D looking) and will tend to strain your eyes. If this happens, hit SHIFT+F12 to turn it off and SHIFT+F9 to turn it on. Repeat this until it is not reversed. For me only 1 or 2 times doing this gets it in sync. In fact you have a 50/50 chance and I seem to start ok for my more often than not. C) MAKE SURE YOU SET UP YOUR MONITOR FIRST! You must make sure you change the monitor settings so it is sized properly for 3D mode AND the resolution the game runs in, before trying this. Don't ask my why but I found that if I did not have my monitor set so I could actually SEE the Line code at the top of the screen, it would mess up the Wicked Glasses and I had to exit the game to turn them off! Again this doesn’t make sense but trust me.... That's it! Enjoy, Bob |
