I have an Asus 7700 deluxe, with an Asus P4b533-e P4 2.0Ghz motherboard. Can't get drivers to work. Computer locks up when I try to run stereo mode. I have tried many drivers, 6.31, 12.41, 23.11, 30.87 with no luck. I am about fed up with stereo. Can someone PLEASE help and tell me which combination of driver/software will make this hardware work? Thank you. I don't want to give up, but I don't know what else to try. Thanks. The ASUS 7700 works for me, though on a GA-7IXE4/Athlon800, and I'm not sure if the drivers are 28.32, 29.80 or 30.82 (not at home currently). Just the obvious first: - the 6.31 doesn't support stereo IIRC - Detonator and stereo control panel versions must match. - previous versions of Detonator (and original ASUS drivers, just in case) should be completely removed from registry and windows\system - with pre-30.x WDHQ detonators, you had to delete all NVRS*.DLL files from windows\system before installing stereo control panel. |

Thanks Andreas. Could you check and see which version you have? I have 30.82 drivers on right now. With these drivers I can't shell to dos, it tells me that I don't have enough memory. Maybe I haven't completely removed the old drivers first. I have also tried the 23.11 drivers with no luck. Maybe I should try the 28.xx or 29.xx series drivers. How should I remove everything, use control panel add/remove, or manually delete all nv* references in the registry and system files? What is the correct procedure? As I said I am getting tired of fooling with this thing. Thanks. |

Sorry, Santa kept me busy... It's the 30.82 Detonator/stereo combo that works for me (with Win98SE). The 23.11 and 29.80 combos did as well, IIRC, but the 30.82 at least had that nasty nvrs*.dll bug fixed (which gave an error when starting stereo properties, unless you deleted all those nvrs*.dll files). For removing drivers, there is a tool called 'Detonator Destroyer' that has been reported to work fine with Win9x. Control Panel / Software / Remove worked for me for the last upgrades. |
