I know Christoph probably would tell me that I deserve my problems, why I am wasting money on fake stereo, but I couldn't resist and bought the 3dplus2 program from Edimensional. I installed it and I found it "not bad". Of course it is fake stereo, but it has it's moments, it may be even enjoyable, UNLESS....and here comes the problem, unless the picture wouldn't be so very dark.

The DVD player already comes up with a significantly darker picture, compared to non-stereo, regular DVD players for the computer. The over-under method also takes away some brightness, and of course the LCD glass too. So, by the time the stereo is activated, except the very bright scenes, the picture is barely visible. Yes, of course, I darkened the room, put the monitor brightness to max, but that's it, the picture is still dark. What I don't understand why, if I go to Settings, and change the brightness settings, it changes everything EXCEPT the picture of the 3dplus2.

Anyone else out there have the same problem, and if yes, any idea how to remedy the problem?
-------------------------------------------
I wrote emails to Edimensional. They responded, very politely, stating that they are aware of the problem, and within ONE WEEK they will have the patch or a new version. The "one week" was promised first at the end of November, and every time I wrote so far (it is alway "one week").

Gabor

Dear everyone,
As you may know, I'm Ju-Hyung Kim in charge of 3Dplus planning and marketing.
We already know the darkness problem and we have a patch module to control brightness already.
The problem is that 'brightness control' occupies quite a lot load of CPU and it can make playing a little slower.
We're generally optimizing the software to gain much more improved speed and this is a key to resolve every other additional functions including brightness control.
Movie display window is on 'Overlay' layer and it is not related with monitor. That's why you cannot make the widow brighter with windows tool.
The easiest way is using VGA card's function of overlay control but it is not generallized and standarized yet. So if we use it, some VGA will work and the others will not.
That's why we're going to a little bit difficuly way to make our own module of brightness control and we require faster performance for it.
Hope this help.

But Dear Sir, this way the program pretty much useless, yet you are still selling it for 50 dollars. Shouldn't you (edimensional) have waited until solved this problem and start selling the program when it is done right? Why do you think so many company which tries stereoscopic this or stereoscopic that, comes and goes? Because the shabby products. It is one thing to have a "glitch" in a program which later requires a patch, it is completely another thing to have a program which can't be used at all. Seriously, if you were in my place, how many more programs/products would you buy from the same company?

Also, I don't see how it was not possible to set the basic brightness (perhaps non-adjustable) to a normal level? Like other DVD players? Are you saying that even that would have used up extra CPU cycles? Or why not to put a "switch" which allows the user to choose between "adjustable" or non-adjustable, if the former slows down the program.

And finally: why not to put the patch up for public display. Why do I have to log on to this website and learn HERE, from another victim (err...user) that there is a patch (which doesn't fix the real problem) which nowhere appears openly on edimensional's website?

With this business strategy, I predict Edimensional will go under, as so many company dealing with stereoscopic items.

Sincerely,

Gabor G. Laufer, M.D.
