Not for interlaced 3D content, only if it is a anaglpyh DVD. LCD displays cannot be used with shutterglasses at all, because they cannot switch fast enough between left and right image. |

The best thing to do would be to convert a DVD-quality 3D movie to anaglyph, then burn it to a playble disc that your DVD player can play... and go from there and see how it looks on a variety of monitors. The main problem we have is red-blue anaglyph MPEG (which is what is required to make a playable disc, e.g., DVD, SVCD or VCD) produces ghosting in the red channel. This ghosting would be visable even with a *perfect* monitor, as the ghosting exists in the MPEG itself. On-the-fly conversion to anaglyph on a computer is the best way to view anaglyphs... still not entirely ghost-free, but better than MPEG anaglyph. Still... many people may have the anaglyph MPEG as the only option for viewing, if they are not able to use a conversion software program on a computer. As "poor" as it may be, it may be the only format available at times. Here's one you can try... I just revived my "Red-Blue Anaglyph" web page for this very reason. I guess maybe I'm assuming that there are a large number of Spy Kids 3D anaglyph glasses sitting around these days for people to use ;-) http://www.puppetkites.net/anaglyph.htm Some are worse than others... there are things to watch out for when you make them... and I'm still learning the "do's" and the "don't" :-) -- P.
