Hi, I have eDimensional glasses and a GeForce4 Ti 4600. I have an MPG file interlaced. When I play this file with VLC (zoom 100%), and I activate the stereoscopy, I see the film in stereoscopy. But with Media Player, or Stereoscopic Player, even at 100% of zoom, impossible to see it in stereo. I think that the picture is smoothed, blured or something (not sure), but I cannot find any option in WMP nor in Stereo Player to deactivate this. Anyone help ? |

Yikes! Me, too! I had never tried Peter's new interlaced mode. I have an NVIDIA GeForceFX 5600, and the only way I can get interlaced 3D to work with Stereoscopic Player and WMP, with the video at 100% or "fullscreen" with my display set to 100% the video height, is to disable my video card's hardware acceleration: On my PC with XP, I disable my system's hardware acceleration by right clicking on the desktop, then going to "Properties" > "Settings" > "Advanced" > "Troubleshoot", and moving the slider to "None". I usually leave the "Troubleshoot" window open in the background while I'm viewing a video, then move the slider back over to "Full" when I'm finished. This won't help you with Stereoscopic Player, right now, but if you use a video player that doesn't use video overlay, it should work without doing this. StereoMovie player works, for example: http://www3.zero.ad.jp/esuto/stvply/indexe.htm PKK |

Thanks a lot for the help. I have reduced hardware acceleration to "none", downloaded the StereoMovie player and tried to start the movie ... bad news, nothing changed. But, more unbelievable, I have downloaded a short AVI interlaced movie (the other was MPG) and ... it works with all players, hardware acceleration to "full". Both windowed and full screen modes are working ! So, the question is : Why doesn't it work for an MPG (except with VLC) and is working with an AVI ? |

Actually, StereoMovie Player will work in interlaced mode on my PC without disabling my hardware acceleration. You shouldn't have to, either. You will only need to do that when you are playing an MPEG with WMP or other players that use video overlay, as well as Stereoscopic Player, it appears (unless Peter has a solution). The only other reasons I can think of that would cause a problem: 1) The MPEG was encoded improperly... but if it works in VLC, that can't be the problem :-) 2) You don't have the video at exactly 100% height. This is difficult to do in some players, like WMP or PowerDVD, unless you set your display itself to that height. It seems very odd that it will work in VLC, but not StereoMovie Player (and again, you don't need to disable your hardware acceleration with StereoMovie Player.) PKK |

You know what they say about computers... if it doesn't work the first time, try it three more times ;-) PKK |

Thanks for the encouragement, I have tried at least 20 times ;) But still don't work ... and the other short interlaced AVI work with all players, full screen, etc. You are right about the video size. The height and the width are not the same when I play MPG with VLC and WMP. The instruction "zoom 100 %" has not the same effect between those players. But what to do ? |

You might be overlooking something simple. Are you making a mistake like trying to play interlaced 3D in page-flip mode instead of line-blanking (interlaced) mode, or something like that? It's very difficult to view interlaced 3D with WMP, and that's why I never use it for that. You might have to use a different display resolution... or something. Maybe a PAL resolution won't even work... there's too many variables, IMHO, to even try it. The GUI tends to "get in your way". PowerDVD is also difficult because you might have to actually drag the player to the proper resolution, and that's tricky (or again, use the same display height as the video). I have no idea why StereoMovie Player isn't working. I always use StereoMovie Player, mainly just because I hadn't tried Stereoscopic Player... but, if SP won't work under video overlay, SMP is an option. It *should* work. The only way I can imagine it not working is if the video is a higher resolution than what your display is set to. (I'm guessing.) Have you tried VirtualDub or VirtualDubMPEG2 for MPEG 2's or VOB's? It isn't really a video player, but it should work just as VLC is working, for straight 100% interlaced 3D viewing. If the video resolution is too high or something, part of it will just not be visible, i.e., VirtualDub won't attempt to resize it by default. If you have a slow computer, it may not play without dropping frames, but there's also and option to stop that. PKK |

Whoops... I mean VirtualDub might slow the video, and there's an "option" to "drop frames when behind" instead. PKK |

Hi! The reason that interlaced 3D videos don't work is that the MPEG decoder deinterlaces the video, whereas most avi codecs don't do this. To play an interlaced video with Stereoscopic Player, first open it, then choose an interlaced layout in File->Layout. If the decoder deinterlaces the video (blends the fields together), click File->Video Properties->Filters and locate the decoder filter. Select it and click 'Details'. If you have luck, your decoder allows you to turn off deinterlacing (the name of this option varies between different decoders). If you tell me the name of the decoder in the filter list, I might be able to tell you in detail which options you must change. |

I've got a weird situation. Even though I have all the settings in SP set to "Cyberlink", "Mainconcept" shows up in the video properties. That is the Premiere MPEG encoder plugin. All of it's functions are grayed out (unaccessible). This isn't a stand-alone program, either, so it can't be accessed outside of Premiere. PKK |

Hi, In Filter tab, I have : Video Mixing Renderer 7 Default DirectSound Device Stereo Transformation Filter CyberLink Audio Decoder CyberLink Video/SP Decoder MPEG-2 Splitter When I try to get the details of MPEG-2 Splitter, I have a "Access violation at address ... in module 'oleaut32.dll'. When I try to get the details of Stereo Transformation Filter, I have the option Output method set to "Monoscopic". But if I change that to nVidia stereo driver, then click OK, OK, I get the message "Could not get Video Windows width-property!" (and the video remains black until I restart Stereoscopic Player). I think we are going deeper into the problem, not solved yet but maybe close ... |

Hi! Don't change the settings of the Stereo Transformation Filter using its property page! You can do the same thing in the File->Layout, File->Aspect Ratio and View->Viewing Method menus. The MPEG-2 Splitter doesn't have a property page, however, the player shouldn't crash when you try to access it. Seems to be a bug... To turn off deinterlacing, open the Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder details and select Force weave.

To PKK: The decoder settings in Stereoscopic Player affect DVD playback only, you have to use File->Open DVD. In file mode, the systems default decoder is used, regardless of the settings and the Mainconcept decoder could be the default decoder on your system. |

Eesh. Bummer. That means the only you can play a field sequential 3D or field sequential anaglyph with SP in interlaced mode (which is the only good way to watch a field sequential anaglyph other than page-flipping or maybe sync-doubling) is from a DVD, i.e., it won't work from a folder on my computer. It's not a real important issue for me, but it might be a problem for some people, like people who may not be able to page-flip or sync-double for some reason. PKK |

That's if you have the Mainconcept Premiere MPEG plugin, I meant... or anything that does the same thing. Intrusive little bugger, isn't it! ;-) PKK |

I'll add a feature in one of the next version that allows to select the decoders for file playback too. |
