Hi guys, first post for me so hope I'm not asking something stupid (have checked message board but cant find answer). I have just got a pair of virtual i.o i-glasses off ebay and would like to use them on my windows 2000 machine however can not get the video working at all, the sound works and when I reboot the BIOS screen appears on the glasses so I am pretty sure they are all connected OK but even though I have followed set up instructions including registry settings I can't get an image, any idea would be much appreciated. Cheers John |

Found out a bit more, incase anyone is out there when I enable stereo mode and apply it each time I try to run a test etc. it comes up with a "stereo error" saying it is not enabled and sure enough if I go out of the display properties and back in it has disabled itself. I am using new 61.76 drivers (both stereo and graphics) and have tried versions 56.72 and 45.23 with no joy, the 56.72 stopped me having this error come up but still nothing came up on the glasses display and my tv out went black and white. Anything? Anyone? |

Hi I'm having exactly the same problem on a win2000 machine. Everything looks fine but the nvidia stereo refuses to enable even though 3d theatre works fine. I'm at a loss as to why they won't work as config, drivers and hardware must be ok for 3d theatre. It's sad cause I saw a faint glimpse of hope for my 3d gaming which is now shattered on the rocks of reality yet again. I think this happened to me before a few years ago and I managed to fix it by reformatting and using the correct drivers initially but I cannot be sure and I'm unwilling to reformat. Hope you can sort it out. |

After reading through the forums I'd thought I would try to change the refresh rate settings in the nvidia options, setting it to overide refresh rates instead of application controlled. The funny thing is that this also is totally ignored and when you close the properties window it just goes back to application controlled. My monitor is set to 120mhz and is correctly identified under windows. |

I'm going to try reformatting and using the latest drivers initally. I won't be doing this for at least another week but afterwards I shall return here to make another post and let you know what happened. |

FYI, I am using Windows 2000 and I am also unable to Enable 3D Stereo with 61.76 Stereo drivers. I hit Enable, close the properties dialog, open it again and it is still saying that 3d Stereo is disabled. None of 3D apps I tried run in stereo. With the previous NVIDIA Stereo drivers I was able to get stereo enabled and I was able to run stereo with all games, But with these drivers I had quite a lot of stability issues, I was getting blue-screan crashes avery hour or two from some NVIDIA dll (don't remember which one) plus I was unable to set resolution higher that 1024x768 in some games. |

I'm having the same problem with 61.76 drivers. I'm in Win2K, and it never takes to the Enable Stereo check box. I get the Stereo Error as well when I try to do any tests. If anyone figures out the solution, or has links to older drivers, that'd be very appreciated. |

Ok, I tried the 56.72 drivers, and they seem to be working. Make sure you reboot in between installing the regular and stereo drivers. Look on the nvidia.com page and just do a search for "56.72". I say "seem" because my glasses (really old Simuleyes VR) are intermittently working. They almost seemed to be working at 75hz (1024x768), but don't always flicker correctly. I think it's the little Simuleyes VR control box, since it comes off and on by wiggling the connections to it. I'll take it apart and see what I find. Hope this helps, Luke |

*****HERE'S THE SOLUTION*********** (got this from www.stereovision.net, not my fix but it works) 1. uninstall 61.76 stereo drivers 2. install 56.72 stereo drivers 3. in control panel, select "enable stereo by hot key" 4. install 61.76 stereo drivers *ON TOP OF* 56.72, don't uninstall first then reinstall; just run the installer and overwrite all. On reboot, 'enable stereo by hot key' should be enabled now in your 61.76 control panel. Unfortunately.......it can't be Disabled now. But with hot key enabled, it doesnt matter anyway and it works fine this way. Only known fix thus far but worked for me and this other guy. |

Just to update. The reformat and the above mentioned fix failed to work for me, however if I run the 56.72 drivers only everything works fine. Also the new nvidia drivers (61.77) have a seperate file for download for 3d stereo, everything looked fine with these new drivers but they didn't work for me although I am now contributing this factor to my card manufacturer(winfast) who also have new drivers available for my card (gf4 Ti4200) although these drivers also failed in 3d stereo they are still the best drivers available for me, mainly because of directx 9b, so my 3d has taken a backseat for now. My only real hope is probably an updated directx 9 card which kinda upsets me only because of the price of technology (never worked that one out in full they must make an evil profit) anyway life goes on and time will tell. |

Guys, Im am so glad I found this thread. I am having exactly the same problem as you describe. I have just bought a pair of E-D glasses and can´t make it work with my 61.77 drivers. From what you say I have drawn a few conclusions: Since we all have different graphic cards (I have a 6800), and different drivers, that is not the source of the problem. We all have different brands of glasses, so those are ruled out. What it comes down to is that all seem to be using win2K. Perhaps the stereo-drivers conflict with win2k? No solution seems to be found... |

i have the same problems and am running W2K. i can't get the 61.77 drivers to funtion properly. the last time i got my 3D glasses to work, i had to use the 40.72 video driver with the 30.87 stereo driver. go figure. |

How do we make Nvidia see this thread? They dont have a bug-report function at their site, they just tell us to contact our specific manufacturers...which won´t do any good when it comes to this. |

Well, using regmon from the great sysinternals i found that the problem lies in a registry voice not correctly created by the latest driver, here's a workaround to manually choose between stereo and not. you'll need to create 2 text files named StereoYes.reg and NoStereo.reg edit the first (StereoYes.reg) with notepad, write and save this: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\nv\Device0] "D3DOGL_EnableConsumerStereoSupport"=dword:00000001 Now edit the second one (Nostereo.reg) write and save: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\nv\Device0] "D3DOGL_EnableConsumerStereoSupport"=dword:00000000 When you want enjoy the full power of your 3d Goggles, double click on StereoYes.reg and confirm. If you need more Fps or got tired double click on NoStereo.reg BTW i think the nvidia developers should put more attention next time (even 61.77 have this BUG !) ...incredible Cheers Kokoko3K |

First I would like to give a big THANK YOU to Kokoko3K, because that actually worked, sortof. In Doom3 it worked, but the textures are flickering, blurred and the game is 3 times as dark, the flashlight has no light cone at all and the game is unplayable. However! I DID see some 3d-action when the Doom-logo was shown, hovering above the surface of Mars at the menu! At least its proof that this works ;) In any other game I´ve tried (Op. Flashpoint, UT2004, Morrowind, Il2 Sturmovik), it simply wont switch to 3d ingame. So we still have a major problem here. Is that perhaps because these games are Direct 3d? |

Run IL 2 in open gl mode. That you should do anyway since it looks better even in non stereo3d . But Doom 3 yes I got everything working perfectly but no light cone and incredible dark . Incredible of all things that don´t work it´s the light cone aaarrrrggh |

The method i explained before worked for me only AFTER i used the "anonymous way" posted some time ago, here it is: *****HERE'S THE SOLUTION*********** (got this from www.stereovision.net, not my fix but it works) 1. uninstall 61.76 stereo drivers 2. install 56.72 stereo drivers 3. in control panel, select "enable stereo by hot key" 4. install 61.76 stereo drivers *ON TOP OF* 56.72, don't uninstall first then reinstall; just run the installer and overwrite all. But with hot key enabled, it doesnt matter anyway and it works fine this way. Only known fix thus far but worked for me and this other guy. ------------------------------------------ ...and the workaround was for the "//Unfortunately.......it can't be Disabled now//" issue. I haven't tried doom3, anyway you should try to increase the gamma level under the stereo properties CPL. |

Well, the textures in Doom3 are messed up for me, with black stripes all over them, and I already run Il-2 in openGL. The stereo worked in IL, but it looks awful, lots of artifacts. This is NOT what I expected from my E-D glasses and Im putting them away until Nvidia gets this crap sorted. Simply not worth the fuss. |

I dont beleive my eyes, the above combination of registry hax and double driver installation actually seems to have done something... trouble is, my glasses aren't. I got the Revelator (wired) glasses and the dont seem to do anything (I am getting two pictures on the medical test but the glasses are not filering them) Any suggestions? (please let it just be an on/off button or something) PS although I get the stereo medical test in double, when I run HL although the screen is a bit odd, it deffinetly is not in stereo... is this releated.? I run the Gladiac 920 which I beleive is a quadro based card. what does this mean?!? Please stop the stereo induced manic depressive from stomping the glasses into tiny tiny peices 8) |

ok I maibe have a clue about it. Got a ti4200 with a pair of Elsa revelator and it wasn't able to shut till this morning :D What did I do ? ok I tell you but you can find it also on this forum. I've disable the pin number 12 on the vga connector. This pin is the pin for DDC1 (communication between the monitor and the graphique card. basicaly the monitor tell his setting to the graphique card to be able to use it in plug and play mode). The glasses use also that information bus to get the sync. So you have three solutions to do this. 1)Ccut directly the pin on the monitor connector (NOT THE GLASSES ONE) but you will lose the waranty DDC1 will not work anymore. 2) Install old 22.72 driver from nvidia, DDC1 wasn't implemented yet in that version but lol it doesn"t support 6800GT so it is not an option. 3) Built a VGA male to female adaptator without the pin 12. Harder but better hope it can help |

I have a question to ask. Maybe it will sound silly to you, but please be patient, since I'm a total noob at this. Is the "Enable Stereo" button supposed to appear if you have installed the stereo drivers but you don't have any glasses? This is my situation: I installed the Win98 stereo drivers v44.03 that I found at www.guru3d.com just to try them out and see what happens with them (I DON'T have any glasses yet), and there is no "Enable Stereo" in the Nvidia control panel. Is this right? |

@anonymous noob: Any 3d-glasses are sufficiently pasive devices, that no driver can detect, so there will be no difference whether glasses are connected or not. Note though, as has been repeated many times here, that stereo and graphics driver versions must match for the stereo drivers to work. ftp://download.nvidia.com/stereo/ has all official stereo driver releases, except for the latest, which you will find at ftp://download.nvidia.com/Windows/61.76/. AFAIR, for the pre-50 detonators, there should be an extra tab for stereo3D in the control panel with the stereo drivers installed. In the newer Forceware drivers, it will add a few extra entries to the fancy NVidia side menu sliding out of the control panel when you select the NVidia-xxx-card tab. |

Now I'm no longer anonymous, but still a noob. :-P It looks like I can't get them to work: the version of both the regular and stereo drivers I use is 44.03 (I checked) and yet I don't get any extra tabs... As far as you know, what is the performance of the drivers included with the glasses, in comparision to the nVidia drivers? |

GUYS! EVERYONE! HOLD UP! dont go into a five iron frenzy tryin to get drivers and installin and installin over, or cutting cables, or taking out pins, or any of that retarted stuff, this is what you need to make it work (it did mine), a simple program called... GeForce Tweak Utility http://www.softpedia.com/public/cat/12/1/12-1-4.shtml ^^^this link should work, if not just search google for "GeForce Tweak Utility" you install this badboy, turn it on, select what type of glasses your have *the MSI glasses are not on the list, but theyre the same as the EDimension ones(first on the list)* and hit "Make This Work" or whatever the large button is, and boom, hit Quit, it'll tell you to restart, restart, go play, it WILL work *if you havnt screwed with drivers and crap, just install the 61.77stereo and 61.77winskxp (you can get BOTH off of http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp *and you've got Consumer Stereo* and follow the isntructions and intall the one "recomended to go with" underneath the startdownload button on that page *just open yer eyes*, this aint that hard to figger out, just dont get yerself too cluttered up with drivers and crap that you've gone and done confused yourself greatly, haha, if you need any help, email me at sh33p@outgun.com |

Here comes a big "DOH!" with an annexed slap on my forehead. The Stereo tab had always been there, but I noticed it only few minutes ago... and get this: only few seconds before uninstalling the stereo drivers! :-P Now, the last step I have to make is... buy a pair of stereo glasses, but right now I can't decide whether to get eDimensional or X-Force glasses. So, if you downgrade to 56.72 it works? What exactly do you downgrade, the whole nvidia-drivers or just the stereo-drivers? at the Moment i've installed the 66.93 Graphic-drivers and the 61.77 Stereo drivers. If i start the image-viewer i just see the left-image on the left side and the right image on the right side. No stereo effect. Can anyone help me? THX Clemens |

i agree with anonymous; i have win2k with a ti4200 and it was giving me that error when i tried to preview the 3d (nvidia stereo not enabled). i tried the 76 drivers and it still didnt work. so here's what i did: uninstalled both drivers ran "driver cleaner 3" for both drivers restarted turned off antivirus software installed 56.72 drivers (look on google for them) restarted and it worked! (both "enabled" and "enabled by hot key") i'm not going to risk reinstalling the later drivers since they just caused me problems before. good luck to anyone who is still having this problem! |

Hi everybody, I have Win2k SP4 with a GeForce FX5200 and the up-to-date drivers (71.89) gave me the same problems reported by everyone else in this thread. I uninstalled those drivers and installed the 56.72 pair of drivers and now everything works. I'm glad I didn't get the GeForce 6600 card I was considering because I doubt the 56.72 drivers support cards that new. I hate to say this because I don't want to switch to XP (I don't like the product activation requirement), but I think Win2k is getting a bit long in the tooth, so to speak. I'm probably just going to stick with it another year or so. Best of luck to everybody, and thanks for the tip about using 56.72 drivers on Win2k. |

A note of explanation: Here are some other problems I've had with Win2k recently: Data corruption on a 250 GB hard drive (caused by not having manually set an obscure registry key to enable support of hard drives larger than 137 GB). For more information see this thread: http://www.p2pforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=13735 No way to create a boot CD. For XP, one can create a BartPe boot disk. http://bartpe.com Can't upgrade to Windows Media Player 10. I don't care that much 'cause I use VLC Player anyway. (It's better) Won't be able to upgrade to Internet Explorer 7. I don't care all that much about this either 'cause I use Mozilla anyway. (It's better). Lack of support for 64-bit processing. I have a 32-bit processor, so I don't care too much, but I probably will next year when I upgrade my hardware. XP is supposed to have a free upgrade to a 64-bit version. I can't stand product activation. I'm almost tempted to download/pirate the corporate XP version (does not have product activation) off the internet. rant: The whole product activation thing really p****s me off because pirates use the corporate version. Product activation just offends people like me who would otherwise have paid for a legitimate copy of the OS years ago. /rant |

Select "Advanced..." and the "Stereo Properties" tab to view stereo setup information. Answer To correct this issue, please download the zip file labeled "3dstereofix.zip" from the File Attachments section below. Save this file to your hard drive. Once the file has been saved, you will need to unzip the file using a zip utility such as Winzip (www.winzip.com ). After you have unzipped the files, browse to the folder where the files were extracted to. You will find two files: (nvidia.com, search for "71.89" to find these) StereoFix.exe stereoenable.bat Open the file labled "stereoenable.bat" to run the command which applies the fix for the consumer 3d stereo drivers under Windows 2000 SP4. Please note, this utility is designed to fix the consumer 3D Stereo driver issue under Windows 2000 SP4 only. It will not work on any other operating system. |

I just ran StereoFix.exe on a machine running Windows 2000 Pro and the 71.89 drivers. It worked! Now all I have to do is figure out how to reverse left and right. If worst comes to worst, I can cobble together an adapter... |
