Last week I tried the XP service pack 2 on my P4 with an ASUS card and Nvidia 45.xx (Asus approved) Nvidia drivers. The upgrade took roughly 2 hours (!?!) and when it was done, several parts of the Nvidia stuff didn't work, including 3D. There were even problems with my active desktop. The 3D gave an error message asking to re-load the driver. Ha. With SP2, you CAN'T (at least I don't know how) turn off the virus checking, which in my experience always leads to Nvidia problems. It didn't work. Tried the 61.xx driver had the same (only worse) problems. I finally gave up and restored the computer to before the SP2 update, which worked. Any idea how to re-load Nvidia drivers while the virus checking is running? Almost forgot, SP2 wants you to set up 'auto-update' so that you can have these sorts of problems without asking. No thanks. |

Hi, i have SP2 running with 61.77 drivers from Nvidia without problems. You can disable each of the three security items firewall, auto-update and virus checking. Virus checking is normaly disabled via the the virus checking software itself, while the other two can be disabled via the security center in the system control panel. |
