Hello Everyone, ---I just want to share my " shopping experience" with everyone here concerning my purchase of the above HMD at Virtual Realities Inc.... I always wanted to own a well-regarded HMD that wouldn't cost me a huge amount of money, so, after reading the review on PC magazine on the i-glasses HRV-PRO, in which the reviewer compared the contrast of the unit to a LCD monitor ( 8 out of a maximum of 10, or "very good") i called Virtual Realities Inc. to place an order, specially after being told that, indeed, the unit "has excellent contrast with deep blacks comparable to LCD monitors".... Even after inquiring about Virtual Realities Inc. return policy, which, as explained, THERE ARE NO RETURNS on HMDs : in case they arrive malfunctioning they have to be shipped to the manufacturer, and that the only forms of payment accepted were PayPal or money-orders, no credit-card payments accepted...In hindsight, that should have raised a "red flag" on my purchasing decision right then and there ! The unit arrived three days later with the right headphone "buzzing" - even though i had specifically requested that the item be completely checked before shipment... After trying it on for 5 minutes i realized the following : very/very uncomfortable to wear for a period any longer than 5 minutes (!!!???), with the front-support structure that sits on the forehead plus the head-strap supporting all the weight of the unit (my forehead started to hurt almost immediately even after i tried repeatedly to find a more comfortable way to wear the HMD). I was laying in bed with my 4 1/2 year-old portable DVD player and the HMD strapped on, so i could easily compare the picture displayed by both units; The contrast/black-level detail as shown on the LCD screen of my DVD player were much/much/much better than the HRV-PRO; The unit does not have a "deep black" as described, it is more of a medium-dark grey with black low-level detail almost non-existent; In sum, comparing the picture as displayed by both units was literally like night and day, with my portable DVD player showing details which were completely lost by the HRV-PRO, plus, since the contrast and black-level detail were so poor, colors tended to suffer as well, looking rather "washed-out" and "muddy". Upon calling Virtual Realities Inc. and being told that there must be something wrong with my unit and that it should be shipped to the manufacturer for repairs (Virtual Realities Inc. would reimburse me for the shipping charge and that they would not accept a return even after i suggested that i would gladly pay a restocking fee of 15%, as offered by the other IO-glasses dealer, CWONLINE). Two weeks later the unit arrived looking exactly the same with the headphone problem apparently fixed; Now, five weeks after this very poor "shopping experience", i am out of $1.000,00 with a product that, for all its intended purposes is UNUSEABLE, as well as a promised shipping-reimbursement that never arrived !!!!! This is just a cautionary tale that i felt needed to be shared with everyone here : before purchasing HMDs in general and IO-glasses in particular, check them out to see how satisfied you are and buy them from a dealer that is more concerned about customer satisfaction than making a quick buck from unsuspecting fools like i !!! I find it interesting that both IO-display and CWONLINE offer a return policy (albeit CWONLINE charges a 15% restocking fee) but not Virtual Realities Inc.....As they used to say in the old days "caveat emptor", or buyer be aware !!! By the way, anyone here interested in buying a brand new HRV-PRO for a good price ??? |

I don't want to say "I told you so" since I haven't talked to you before but the idea has crossed my mind in some ways because... If you would have read the forum about HMD's you wouldn't have bought it. Thanks for the review though and by the way, you have my sympathy. |

That sucks. I too have found myself at the VRealities site many times giving serious consideration to an SVGA HMD. The 100:1 contrast ratio and the fact that I'd rather wait for a 1024x768 variant has kept me from making a purchase. After your story I'm certain that when I do buy a HMD it will not be from Vrealities. I am truly sorry for your loss. Guru3D and some other sites have 3D forums and reviews. I think it would be a good idea to share this story with them as it will help keep others from making the mistake of doing business with this company. John |

I like most other people on this board know that most posts like these are lies and are fabricated to make a company look bad. If this board was moderated it would stop. |

I agree with Jim. I have dealt with VRealities in the past and have had very good service. Not only did they ship my i-glasses for free but they helped me decide on which one to buy. One thing I know is that people like to bitch and usually there are two sides to every story. VRealities fight the good fight and don't let your competitors get you down! |

Jim, ----Do you by any chance work for VRealities? Why would i spend so much time and effort posting this message here and sharing my experience with others concerning my purchase when i am truly not expecting anything in return ? The main point of my posting was that anyone considering purchasing a HMD from i-glasses, or from any other manufacturer for that matter, should do himself/herself a big favor and check out the unit before buying it, and, if you do decide to purchase one by mail without having a chance to personally test it, make sure of the dealer's return policy....Very simple..... By the way, i live in Boston and i am listed on the phone book, in case you care to check me out....Also, i just filed a complaint with the BBB of Texas concerning this matter. ----------------------------------------- Walt, ----Glad to hear that at least you "had very good service" with the company; As a matter of fact, my unit was also shipped for free, but when you consider the fact that i was buying an item that costs $1.000 and had a package weight of less than 2Lbs, let's at least agree that for a company to pick-up a shipping charge of less than $8.00 is really no big deal, don't you think so ? Like almost everyone else, yes, i do bitch when i purchase a poorly designed product at such a "bargain" price and, if VRealities "fight the good fight and don't let your (?) competitors get you down", then why don't they offer a return policy on their products ??? Even the manufacturer of the product, I-O Display, offers one, and, as i pointed out, CWOnline also does the same with the proviso of a 15% restocking fee, which seems fairer to me than "no returns accepted"... Something that i learned from this whole "affair" is that both manufaturers and dealers should not be exactly bragging about a "100:1 contrast ratio", which is very, very poor indeed !! -------------------------------------------- Jesper, ----Thanks for the words of comfort; I did read all the posts here on the product, but i wanted one so badly that i made the mistake of basing my decision according to the review done by PCmagazine; I still don't understand how could the reviewer be so impressed with the unit considering its listed contrast ratio...Go figure! |

Marcos no worries Vrealities has been cut off from the manufacuters of the i-glasses for the same reasons. Poor customer service and play too many games. |

If i-O Display lets Virtual Realities officaly distribute their product then I question how well i-O is actually doing. I had nothing but problems with that guy Armand he is bascially a Jerk! |

I actually had a different problem. They did delivery what I ordered but it did not work as Armand promised. When I tried to return the tracker he became very rude and hung up the phone. VREALITIES I WANT MY MONEY BACK! Stop playing games on this forum and worry about your customers (the few that you do have) |

I've had experiences with Armand also. He does freak out and act like a 12 year old when you say something he doesn't like. So, I believe "Not Happy" when he says this. Beware of Armand. |
