Hehee! Now there's a loaded question! I have spent much of the past three years of my life trying to unlock that puzzle. You might want to read through some of the other threads to read some opinions on this topic... it's already been covered in detail a number of times. If you want a quick and easy way to view 3D movies in anaglyph format, Peter's "optimized" red/cyan method is probably among the best there is. If you want to approach it from an "artistic" viewpoint, then it gets very complex in a hurry. There are a number of people, including myself, who are attempting to "perfect" red/cyan anaglyphs, not only by "optimization" processes, but by using additional (or other) color manipulation for different visual purposes. So, it depends on your intention. I assume you probably want to casually watch 3D movies as anaglyphs and not work at creating "anaglyph art". In that case, I'd use Peter's player and his "optimized red/cyan" view: http://mitglied.lycos.de/stereo3d/ PKK |

For best color perception, you should use for one lens an additive color primary, and for the other the complementary subtractive primary. The possible combinations are Red/Cyan (the most popular), Green/Magenta and Blue/Yellow. The choice of the color combination depends on the image color content. The best color perception will be achieved by using colors that do not appear in the image. For instance, for red roses (saturated red and green colors) use the blue/yellow combination. For a tropical beach (saturated blue and green, and perhaps yellow) use red/cyan. Itsik |
