Hi, I have a Polhemus InsideTrak 6DOF System and I am searching for driver/software which enables me to use the tracker with games (Mouse Control would be good enough, too.). Any kind of driver or software tools would be welcome, independent to its required operating system. Google found on... http://www.cse.dmu.ac.uk/~cph/vrdev-sw.html "id Software have a Driver for the Polhemus InsideTrak " link , but the link don't run. I contacted the webpage shown e-mail address, but this user is not further available at that university. Could anyone help me please ? Any kind of feedback is welcome :o) Kind Regards |

Info in addition: The Visette Pro HMD has the same tracking system. So its driver would help me, too. I noticed that some users in this discussion board do have this HMD. Would be great if someone could help and send me this driver for testing :o) Kind Regards |

thx, tried that, but didn't get any response til yet. Found out the direct e-mail contact to Vincent and sent him an info, too. Hope some feedback will come. I am wondering why nothing could be found in the web. Thought that many users do exists (Visette and InsideTRAK). Do you know alternative resources ? I have got the source code (I guess) in c++ from Polhemus technical support and some additional files. I am not a programmer, but maybe it is possible to create a game (mouse/keyboard) driver with that code. My basic driver of the InsideTRAK runs and outputs the 6DOF coordinates. So, what I could immagine is that these output could be used as input to a standard mouse driver. Yes, that would fit only 2DOF, but if it would be possible to send the other outputs to a keyboard driver, then also the other 4DOF could be covered. Only an idea. Does anyone knows how to realize this and/or which chance exist to get this running ? |

During Siggraph last month, I actually asked exactly this question at the Polhemus booth as I have three InsideTraks and may need to get them working again soon. They gave me a guy's name to call in their office after the show was over saying that he was the driver guru and they were pretty sure he had such drivers. I haven't gotten around to it yet but I will pull out his card on Monday and give hime a call -- it's time I got working on the project anyway. |

Unfortunately I have been trying to reach this guy almost every day for the last two weeks without success -- I am beginning to think he is fictitious, even though he does have voice mail and it does give the right name. I will keep trying. |

To whoever posted earlier saying that you have C++ source code that reads the 6DOF coordinates of the InsideTrak, I might be able to help - Please get in contact with me! I am a software engineer, and I would absolutely love to get InsideTrak working in modern operating systems, and I've been able to gather some information and source code... but I'm still missing the lower-level IO calls, and if your C++ code does that, that may be everything we need. Please respond to this message! Regards, |

Hi All, I just want to clarify that Cybermind only have drivers for older Windows OS (95/NT) and that no develop has been done on these drivers since they were made by Virtuality. There are also no Mouse emulation drivers available that we know of. Regards, Cybermind NL PS. We apologise if request for drivers were not replied to but would like to come into contact with existing users of the Visette Pro |

Hey Vincent, all. I do have some NT drivers. I have been successful getting them running under XP, but I have not done anything else with them. The drivers made by Virtuality are not very well written and they are for Win16 only. Feel free to contact me any time about this. Arcadian Virtual Reality Support |
